Pass Assignment Dairy entries Wednesday 1st May 2013 Recreational activitys7:50am-8:10am and 4:10pm-4:30pm walking to/from the

bus stop I dont enjoy this activity as usually Im tired whilst doing it but I do however enjoy Laurens Company. In doing this I improve my physical activity on a small level also the quality time I get with my sister. Leisure activity 10:00am-10:15am Recess one, two and lunch with friends I enjoy recess one, two and lunch as it is a break from class work and you get to socialise with friends. I find this activity relaxing as we just sit and talk about things I therefore find it easier to concentrate the next period. The benefits of this activity for me is mainly that because Im still new to the school I get to know more about the people I hang out with and we seem to get closer. Lifestyle activity 12:45pm-2pm learning session 3 for pass (touch football) I enjoyed these activities because I love touch football, it is one of my favourite sports. It was tiring in the sun but it`s good to improve touch footy skills and fitness levels Recreational activity 5:30pm-6:30pm Pump class at gym Went to the gym after school, as this was the first time in the pump class, I found some of the activities confusing and a bit challenging but after a little bit I got the hang of it and found it very enjoyable. There is music and an instructor in the class so I found that to be more helpful and better than going off and doing your own thing. This class benefits me in improving my fitness strength and I have a better mind set. Leisure activity 7pm-8pm ate dinner and watched home and away with the family I enjoy this time the most as I usually help mum make dinner and I love cooking. I also find this time really relaxing and enjoyable as its a time where my family comes together. We all enjoy watching home and away so we socialise and bond over that activity every school night.

Thursday 2nd May 2013 Recreational activity activitys7:50am-8:10am and 4:10pm-4:30pm walking to/from the bus stop I dont enjoy this activity as usually Im tired whilst doing it but I do however enjoy Laurens Company. Lifestyle activity- Boxing for school sport 2:00pm-3:15pm I did enjoy this activity as I hadnt done it before we did a multiple range of activities here ranging from sets of boxing and running. The benefits of this activity are that it uses a range of arm exercises which builds strength and is a different way of building self-confidence in physical activity. Leisure activity- Doing joint maths homework with Lauren 4:30pm-5:00pm I dont enjoy this activity because I dont like maths. The benefits of this activity include that there is two of us and we can help each other out in understanding things and doing the homework fully and correctly. It also makes doing the homework easier and less stressful. Recreational activity- Weights training with instructor at gym 5:30pm-6:30pm I did enjoy this activity as I learnt how to use new machines with a trainer so I now know how to use them properly and safely. The benefits of this activity includes Leisure activity- 7pm-8pm ate dinner and watched home and away with the family I enjoy this time the most as I usually help mum make dinner and I love cooking. I also find this time really relaxing and enjoyable as its a time where my family comes together. We all enjoy watching home and away so we socialise and bond over that activity every school night.

Friday 3rd May 2013 Recreational activity 7:50am-8:10am and 4:10pm-4:30pm walking to/from the bus stop I dont enjoy this activity as usually Im tired whilst doing it but I do however enjoy Laurens Company. In doing this I improve my physical activity on a small level also the quality time I get with my sister. Lifestyle activity 2:00pm-3:15pm cooking in food technology I enjoy this activity because I love cooking. We make a different range of foods in groups so its cooking and socialising at the same time. The benefits of this activity includes that you dont get a demonstration just the recipe and you have to interpret in your own way so it improves your independent learning. Recreational activity 6:00pm-7:00pm walking the dog I enjoy this activity because it gets me and the dog out of the house. My dog has been attacked so I have to try and avoid other dogs or make her wait which is sometimes difficult but shes improving the more I walk her. The benefits are that she becomes easier to walk and can do it easier and more often also that Im not just going for run by myself, I enjoy walking her when its later at night because she walks well with no other dogs around. Leisure activity 7:00pm-7:30pm making pasta for Lauren and I as parents were out I enjoy this activity because I get to make the pasta how I want and that I love cooking so the more often I do it the better I become. The benefits of this activity includes that it improves my cooking skills and it is a social time for my sister and I to get along.

Saturday 4th May 2013 Recreational Activity 8:00am -12:00am Work Woolworths I enjoy this activity because I enjoy my job because you get to socialise with customers whilst working. Its quite early in the morning to start work but I like it because I get to do things for the rest of the day. Recreational Activity 12:30-2:00pm Gym Straight after work I catch the bus to the gym and ran on the treadmill and rowed for an hour. I enjoy the gym but I got really tired afterwards from work but I know its good for my health and fitness so I like to push myself. The benefits of this activity includes that I always feel good afterwards and I find after doing physical activity it clears my head and puts me in a better mind space. Leisure activity 4:00-5:50pm Seeing Friends I enjoyed this activity as it was quite relaxing and is always nice to catch up with old friends. The benefits of this activity are that it doesnt stress me out or anything its just a time to relax and have fun. Lifestyle activity7:00-8:00pm walking to the shops to get dinner with Lauren I enjoyed this activity because I got to walk with my sister and get food. The benefits of this activity were that we were socialising and doing physical activity that we enjoyed and wasnt hard to do. Leisure 9:00-11:00pm having a friend over watching movies and playing Ping-Pong I enjoyed this activity because it was fun, funny and relaxing, I hadnt seen this friend in a couple of months so it was nice to see him again. The benefits of this activity were that it was relaxing and I was able to be myself whilst enjoying a social interaction with my friend.

Sunday 5th May 2013 Recreational Activity walked to the library 9:30am-10:30am I enjoyed this activity because its a nice walk to the library although I found it harder than I thought to find a book. I found it rather stressful trying to find the book but after I did it was reliving so I could start my history assignment. The things I benefited from this activity was getting my history assignment done before the due date. Leisure activity watched television 11:00am-12:00pm I enjoyed this activity because it was a break from my assignment. The things I benefited from this activity was that it cleared my mind and get relaxed for the rest of the day. Lifestyle activity made lunch with mum and went shopping 12:00pm-2:00pm I enjoyed this activity because I was spending quality time with my mum. The things that I benefit from this activity include new clothes, bonding time with my mum whilst doing every day physical activity too. Recreational activity walked the dog 6:00pm-7:00pm I enjoy this activity because it gets me and the dog out of the house. The things I benefit from this activity is that it makes me tired so I fall to sleep easier and also gives me something to do before bed.

Monday 6th May 2013 Recreational Activity walked around the hotel and Collaroy including the beach and shops I enjoyed this activity because I havent been there before also that it was the beginning of camp which was really exciting. The benefits of this activity included that I got to see the place we were staying at which made me feel more comfortable with where we were staying. Leisure activity Sat in our room and played games to learn more about each other I didnt enjoy this activity as I found it boring but I still got to socialise with people I hadnt met before. This activity was quite relaxing as we sat in a room in chairs and socialised the benefits of this activity was that it improved my memory skills. Recreational activity went to the beach and played games I enjoyed this activity as it gave us things to do when we were at the beach. It was really relaxing as it was a warm afternoon and the beach was really calm. The things I benefit from this activity was that I hadnt been to Collaroy beach before and that it was nice to get to know how good people were at the skills the game required. I also gained those skills from the game. Lifestyle activity made dinner for the camp (spaghetti) I enjoyed this because I got to cook for the camp with a bunch of other girls that I didnt know. It was a fun and new experience in a place Id never been before. This benefited me by meeting new people, making new friends whilst doing something I love. Leisure activity balderdash the game with the whole camp 7:00pm-8:00pm I enjoyed playing this game because I had never played it before. It was a time for all of the camp girls to come together and bond. It was awkward at first but after the first round it was fun. The benefits of the game include socialising with new people, making new friends, also improving my English skills and general knowledge.

Tuesday 7th May Leisure activity writing exercise I enjoyed this activity because we got to write about an experience, we could write about whatever one we wished and it was a good escape. As I sat on the balcony and wrote in the sun I found it to be very relaxing which is why I liked it more. The ways in which I benefit from this activity is that my writing skills improve and I found that if Im in a relaxing environment my writing is better. Leisure activity Christian discovery I had mixed emotions about this activity because Im not actually religious it was interesting to hear the perspective of a Christian although some things I didnt get at all and ended up being extremely confused. The things I benefit from this activity is that I see things from different perspectives and learn new things. Lifestyle activity made lunch with the camp I enjoyed this activity because everyone knew everyone by this point and it was a good opportunity to socialise with everyone, have some laughs and enjoy the day. The things I benefit from this activity includes the socialising aspect and learning new cooking skills. Recreational activity went for a walk along the beach I enjoyed this activity because it was nice and fun to get away from the house. The things I benefited from this activity included that we got some exercise, fresh air and still continued to socialise with each other. Leisure activity watched a movie before we went to bed I enjoyed this activity because it was down time before bed, I found it to be really relaxing and still fun at the same time. The things I benefit from this activity includes that its a break from constantly needing to do something and just sit back relax watching a movie with everyone.

Special age group: The elderly Leisure and recreation needs: Fitness is very important for those in their senior years. Older adults need to have adequate strength, flexibility, and endurance to accomplish everyday tasks. Assessing these components of fitness can detect weaknesses which can be treated before causing serious functional limitations. A large health study reported in 2011 suggests that all adults including seniors can benefit from as little as 15 mins per day of moderately heart-pumping exercise. About 30 mins is the official recommendation, in addition two sessions per week of muscle-strengthening activity or exercise. Try to fit four types of exercise into any senior exercise regimen. Swimming offers seniors a good moderate work out; you can also work in the garden, rake leaves and push a lawn mower. A balanced exercise program also needs to build muscle by working all major muscle groups for example lifting weights or doing yoga. It is recommended that you get some aerobic exercise ever day or nearly every day with 150 minutes per week that can be divided in any way and at least twice a week seniors should lift weights to strengthen the muscles.
