former tournament tennis player and coach, Alan Racko made his living in a traditional import business before being introduced to Nikken more than 20 years ago. He had never thought of getting involved in the network marketing industry before, but Nikken changed all that. I was struggling with two things at the time, says Alan. At 29 years old, Alan was suffering terrible discomfort in his neck, back and shoulders due to a physical challenge that had developed over many years. Doctors and physical therapists had told him to learn to live with it. When Nikken came into my life, I realized there could be another way to deal with my physical problems. I got so excited that no one could stop me from sharing my experiences with everyone I knew. At the same time, Alan had also been seeking a career change. Again, Nikken was the answer, he says. Originally from Toronto, Alan signed up as a Nikken Consultant in his native Canada in April 1992. In the meantime, Erika Rossel had lost her job when the company she worked for in California suddenly relocated out of state. She was forced to seek more affordable living arrangements, and the situation seemed dire. I was praying for something good to happen to me, she recalls. After answering a job ad, she was interviewed and hired by the Nikken headquarters office an answer to prayer in more ways than she could have then imagined. As an employee, Erika was invited to experience Humans Being More training (then known as Silver training). There, on a humble piece of paper Erika assembled a collage of images representing her hopes and dreams. She confesses that her LifeCycle plan included lofty ambitions that she never thought were truly possible; among them her desire to meet and marry the man of her dreams.

The spanish connection


After helping to establish the Spanish language department at Nikken, Erika added the role of Spanish translator to her duties, working with Nikken Executive VP Larry Proffit. In 1993, Erika accompanied Larry Proffit to Mexico for a Humans Being More training event, and it was there that she and Alan Racko first crossed paths. They struck up a platonic friendship that endured for almost three years before they finally shared a momentous first date. Within 16 days, the couple was engaged and less than three months later Alan and Erika exchanged vows as husband and wife. Erika brought a uniquely valuable perspective as an erstwhile Nikken employee to the couples new partnership. Her fluency in Spanish has allowed Erika to build and grow their downlines throughout the Spanishspeaking community both domestically and abroad, in Mexico, Costa Rica and other Latin American countries. The Rackos have developed a robust network, climbing to the Diamond rank where they have happily maintained a thriving Nikken business for the past several years. But with the recent compensation plan enhancements, they quickly advanced to Royal Diamond. The

Nikken compensation plan teaches you how to build a proper structure for income, not just pin rank, asserts Alan. It is about making consistent income month after month. To Alan and Erika Racko, the Nikken lifestyle has meant the freedom to indulge their passion for travel, both business and pleasure. They have visited every continent, even Antarctica. They built their dream home in sunny Davie, Florida, including a custom backyard pool emblazoned with the Nikken logo. And when Erikas father became ill, she was able to travel abroad to see him. The ability to spend three months in Chile with her father before he passed away was a priceless comfort during a time of sorrow. The couple credits Nikken with bringing these wonderful opportunities within their grasp. They know that worker bees in the traditional business sector dont enjoy the same freedoms, and their gratitude is palpable.

Moreover, Alan and Erika are building a legacy with their son Eli, who recently celebrated his 10th birthday. A bright fourth-grader and Nikken product user since birth, Eli may be Alan and Erika celebrating their son his parents best Elis 10th birthday advertisement for the remarkable technologies they promote. He loves Nikken products and volunteers his own testimonials when we have presentations, says his proud mom. He runs to find the products whenever he has any discomfort; he sleeps on the Kenko Sleep System every night and he refuses to drink anything other than PiMag water! Its only natural that Eli would follow his parents example. From the KenkoLight full-spectrum desk lamp to Kenzen Wellness nutritionals, Dad Alan relies on Nikken products every day. I drink about a gallon or more of PiMag water daily, and Im enjoying Kenzen Vital Balance. Asked about his favorite Nikken product, Alan demurs. Its hard to choose just one! Alan looks forward to paying off the mortgage, as well as helping others to move up in the ranks and grow in the business. Im already talking to my leaders about planning their strategies to move from Diamond to Royal Diamond, and at all different levels, says Alan. I feel very blessed that Nikken came into my life when it did. It changed my life first physically and then financially. Its given us The Rackos with Luis Kasuga security and allowed us to build a family and make a difference in peoples lives. It gave me my wife, and our greatest gift yet: our son. For Erika, the future holds boundless possibilities in international expansion. I hope one day to help open Nikken in Chile, and share this opportunity with my family members, relatives and friends to build lines there and experience their own success, she enthuses. Indeed, Erika has already seen the loftiest of her original LifeCycle dreams come true. Its time to dream some bigger dreams for the entire Racko family.

Maggie explains, The farm in Ontario where I grew up had been in our family for three generations, but I thought the grass was greener away from home. So I went off to university for five years. Over the next 30 years, I taught high school and college, both in Canada and Australia. I loved teaching but something was missing more freedom, more balance and an opportunity to build a legacy just like we had on the farm. I had been dealing with a variety of health issues for about 30 years when my dear friend Carolyn discovered Nikken and shared it with me 18 years ago. She showed me the whole picture of the 5 Pillars of Health and described how all areas of our lives would benefit from the Nikken vision of Humans Being More. I was thrilled to find a solution for my health concerns but saw the other benefits as well. The Nikken opportunity afforded good reasons to travel throughout Canada including visits to family members in Vancouver and Ontario to share the products and opportunity. When I was first introduced to Nikken I was out of balance in all 5 Pillars. My body hurt 24/7 and that chronic discomfort naturally affected by mind. Consequently, I wasnt able to be my best in all my relationships, particularly with family. My contribution to society was as a

hospice volunteer but my role was greatly restricted because I had to go to work and couldnt keep vigil Son Duncan, granddaughter overnight Ellie and Daughter-in-law Deepi with folks who were dying. Although my teaching position gave me a decent income and great medical, dental and professional development benefits, I realized that retirement wasnt going to be rosy unless I developed a Plan B. Nikken became my creative retirement plan. During the first wellness preview I attended in late 1994, I heard several testimonials. I thought immediately of my dad when an older farmer said with the utmost sincerity that when I use Nikken products, I have more energy to go out to the barn. I was convinced Son Ians call to the BC Bar right from the beginning that Nikken could help not just me but everyone who embraced this revolutionary wellness concept. When I joined Nikken in February 1995, I only had a few hours a week to focus on Nikken. I was teaching full time and developing new courses for the college, a full-time post-grad student in another province and a hospice volunteer. I purchased a small inventory of product, became a student of network marketing,

developed a list of 100 people and consistently made contacts whenever possible. Within a couple of months, I was free from discomfort and able to get out of bed in one smooth movement. Even when people laughed at the idea of using alternative products, I was unshaken because I had my own profound experience and was helping others.

The Journey to Diamond


What slowed me down at the beginning was that I didnt employ the ABC method. I lived 500 miles from my upline and was a lone ranger for the first two years. Once I involved my amazing support team, I was able to attain Silver. I now believe I would have reached that goal much faster had I used the ABC process from the beginning. From Silver, it took a year to reach Gold. We didnt have the Internet or conference lines, so my upline and I made a lot of daisy-chain calls to support people who showed intent to build the business. We shared stories, mentored people and grew quickly. When my part-time Nikken income surpassed my fulltime teaching one, I quit my job to become a full time Nikken consultant. Three years later, I reached Platinum and moved from Prince George to Vancouver.

making the mental shift


The longest leg of Maggies journey to Diamond was as a Platinum. She stayed at that rank for 10 years, learning how to shift her approach to where the success of others became more important than her own goals. Maggie affirms, I needed to learn what my role is, to be clear about my intentions (my why), to then do the work (the what), while surrendering the need to control the how. I have been blessed by many role models and mentors particularly my upline Rob Mason and Maggie at Nikken Royal Diamonds 35th Anniversary Global Celebration Michael DiMuccio, Dennis Estes and Reid Nelson. I have had wonderful support from crossline leaders and friends such as Julie Tara, Roxanne Rees and the late Dr. Rob Mason. I am forever grateful to my amazing team, especially my Platinum leaders Ona McDonald, Clarence Willson and Donna Dinh. My role is to be of service to others from a place of deep humility. That conscious intention has allowed me to become what I believe a Diamond Consultant truly is while my journey and growth continue.

the opportunity to jump from a 30-foot cliff into a frigid, fast moving river as a way of understanding the power of conviction and overcoming fear. That experience really laid the foundation for Maggie with grandchildren my clarity and resolve about becoming Diamond. At the May 2012 conference of Nikken leaders, I became part of a mastermind team of four Platinum women committed to supporting each other to Royal Diamond. It became clear to me that by becoming Diamonds and Royals, each of us raises the belief of others, especially women, in achieving these levels. This common goal helped me to focus on being part of something beyond self for the greater good! I am so grateful for my Mastermind buddies C J McCarthy, Peg Desrochers and Madeline Zaworski for their ongoing inspiration and support. In June 2012 Julie Tara came to Vancouver, as part of the strategy to identify and work with the three Silvers required for my business to reach Diamond. It was an amazing time of absolute clarity of intention, doing the work, letting go, surrendering and experiencing grace. Assistance also came from downline Silver George Lacerte who said, I just want to help take you to Diamond. Joy and deep gratitude filled my heart.

why nikken? what now?


After 18 years with Nikken, Maggie is more committed than ever. She makes a conscious choice every day to make a difference in the world. She says, Years ago, whenever Carolyn and I felt discouraged, we would call each other. All we needed to do was close our eyes, breathe deeply and imagine life without Nikken and, within seconds, we would be back on track. I still use that meditation to remind me of the value of Nikken in my life. Maggie avows, Staying close to the fire is essential, especially since we are all solopreneurs running our own businesses. I am a great believer in building communities by: daily contacting and inviting; weekly networking events, inhomes, vision calls, inner circle calls and mastermind calls; monthly trainings; quarterly expos; and annual events such as the leadership conference and the Nikken convention. My journey as a Nikken Consultant is about Humans Being More and who we are becoming. It is about raising consciousness and changing the world by expressing spirit through our thoughts, feelings and actions. I will continue on the Nikken journey because this is my true calling. This is the place where I can live consciously and experience unity of body, mind and spirit. This is where I can become the best person that I can possibly be.

Nobel Razon is also a member of the Presidents Club and was awarded 2012 Consultant of the Year in Turkey. Local Nikkenites toasted their new Diamond with a festive cocktail party, where Nikken Turkeys sales manager Basak Sonmez congratulated the guest of honor and her sponsor Zohar Rothmann of Israel with the onstage presentation of her Diamond rank pin. An investigation conducted by the Associated Press has once again highlighted the presence of pharmaceuticals in the nations water supplies, described in their recent report. The group commissioned testing of municipal water systems for 24 major U.S. metropolitan areas, and detected antibiotics, hormones, mood stabilizers and other widely-prescribed drugs. The amounts are generally small and local utility companies contend that the water is safe, yet experts from private organizations and government authorities answer that they cannot say for certain whether these substances may pose a risk to health. chlorine substitutes no better for health?


Many communities have modified their water disinfecting procedures, eliminating the practice of adding chlorine and using chloramine instead. The change was instituted because chloramine does not create the byproducts of chlorine that are known to be potentially toxic. But chloramine is not without risk; it produces nitrosamines. David Sedlak, of the department of civil and environmental engineering at the University of California, Berkeley, noted that nitrosamines are what people warned you about when they told you you shouldnt be eating those nitrite-cured hot dogs. He adds that these may be more hazardous than the disinfection products that wed been worried about with regular old chlorine. Sedlak concludes by saying that although there are good reasons to avoid chlorine, an alternative chemical in drinking water may bring its own problems. (npr.org, January 7, 2011.)

Possible link between pesticides, food allergies


Allergic reactions to common foods have been on the rise, notably in incidents involving children. A study indicates that water contaminated by agricultural insect-control products may be responsible. As published in the Annals of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology, a team of researchers led by Elina Jerschow, M.D., found that dichlorophenols have been connected with allergic response. Dr. Jerschow explained that the compound can possibly weaken food tolerance in some people, causing food allergy. This chemical is . . . found in pesticides used by farmers and consumer insect and weed control products, as well as tap water. According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, in the decade between 1997 and 2007 nationwide food allergy increased by 18%. (Medical News Today, December 3, 2012.)

shower filters: even better than expected


Over the years, home shower filters have been gaining in popularity. One factor that may have encouraged this movement is a list of the many positive aspects of these filters, compiled by an independent water-quality organization in 2004. Among these: Airborne chlorine in an unfiltered shower elevates the level of ambient chloroform in the rest of the house. (Its estimated that more water contaminants are released into household air by the shower than from any other source.) Because of the vaporizing effect, chemicals in unfiltered shower steam are also in a higher concentration than in the water. Inhaled chemicals enter the bloodstream more quickly than if they were ingested by drinking. And reducing the liquid chlorine in shower water results in smoother, less irritated and younger-looking skin. (allaboutwater.org, 2004.)

Although a few self-appointed health experts advocate a cold shower as providing many benefits (perhaps in building character?), most authorities agree that showering in hot water can have positive physical effects. A hot shower opens the pores of the skin, for cleansing and detoxifying. Hot water can stimulate the release of certain hormones, including those which support wound healing and cell rebuilding. It can also encourage the release of human growth hormone, which is favored by bodybuilders for

hat do bubbles have to do with a shower? Theres more than soapsuds or shampoo involved here. It turns out that water bubbles make a difference in how clean a shower can be. A scientific discovery regarding the nature of water bubbles was the inspiration for a technology built into the new PiMag MicroJet Shower System. ikken has implemented a freight carrier change to replace USPS services with FedEx SmartPost as of April 1, 2013. This change affects all package types currently shipped via USPS, including applicable Nikken Autoship orders. We are pleased to announce a reduction in the FedEx SmartPost shipping rate from $2.75 per pound to just $2 per pound, effective April 19, 2013. Compared to USPS service, the typical transit time will increase by a few days, depending on the final destination zip code. The good, the bad, the ugly

Growing up with Nikken

What is it like to grow up in a Nikken home? This question has been asked of me since I was a little girl, but I never have been able to answer it in a way that satisfies what Nikken really is. My dad has been with Nikken for 20 years, so me being only 14, I have never known anything different. I have always taken Jade GreenZymes in the morning and I am constantly being reminded to wear my PowerBand bracelets. I dont think I would have it any other way, because Nikken has given me the opportunity of a lifetime. I have had the opportunity to travel the world to 32 countries and grow in leadership skills that I use every day. Everyone can say that their dad has a great job; My dad is a firefighter and he saves people! or My dad is a dentist and he makes people smile, but I have always said Yeah, my dad works for himself. Though I receive funny looks and laughs, my dad is always there. When I come home from school he asks me how my day was; during a volleyball game I almost always look up and see him in the stands. If hes not able to make a

game, he always makes an extra effort to ask how I did. Whenever we want to just watch a movie, he is always there to enjoy some 80s action classic or a superhero movie. Thats why Nikken is great. Yes the products are amazing, but the time and fun I get with my family is priceless. I know that my dad will continue in the business of wellness technologies, and though I may not pursue the business myself, I know I will use the products and keep the memories for the rest of my life. After all, because the Humans Being More philosophy impacted my family, Ive been given the best 14 years that I could ever imagine.

Explain how to return a product or cancel an order. Provide you with promotional materials that contain the address and telephone number of the direct selling company. Provide a written receipt that identifies the company and salesperson, including contact information for either. Respect your privacy by calling at a time that is convenient for you. Safeguard your private information. Provide accurate and truthful information regarding the price, quality, quantity, performance, and availability of their product or service. Offer a written receipt in language you can understand. Offer a complete description of any warranty or guarantee.

as a salesperson, you should expect a dsa member company to: Provide you with accurate information about the companys compensation plan, products, and sales methods. Describe the relationship between you and the company in writing. Be accurate in any comparisons about products, services or opportunities Refrain from any unlawful or unethical recruiting practice and exorbitant entrance or training fees. Ensure that you are not just buying products solely to qualify for downline commissions. Ensure that any materials marketed to you by others in the salesforce are consistent with the companys policies, are reasonably priced and have the same return policy as the companys. Require you to abide by the requirements of the Code of Ethics. Safeguard your private information. Provide adequate training to help you operate ethically. Base all actual and potential sales and earnings claims on documented facts. Encourage you to purchase only the inventory you can sell in a reasonable amount of time.
