Abraham Lincoln was born on February 12, 1809 in the state of Kentucky.

He later died in 1865 of a gunshot wound to the head. Lincoln grew up with a poor family that consisted of his father, his stepmom, and his five brothers and sisters. He later married a wealthy girl named Mary Todd Lincoln. Together, they had four children named Robert, Eddie, Willie, and Tad. Lincoln became The President of the United States of America on March 4, 1861 at the age of 52. During his Presidency he passed the Emancipation Proclamation, the Homestead Act, Morrill Act, and the National Banking Act. He also created the 13th amendment and chartered the transcontinental railroad. Of all things winning the Civil War was probably his greatest accomplishment. He supported the Union even though he had never officially said that he opposed slavery. This war ended slavery once and for all.
