Bishop Stang High School is dedicated to providing students with the 21st century skills they need to succeed in college and life. The Class of 2017 iPad Initiative provides students many opportunities to utilize resources available to enhance student learning. As with all new endeavors, there are factors that need to be considered for the well-being of all. This contract will help to clarify expectations and ensure an environment that complements our schools mission to holistically educate our students to be spiritually, academically, and socially prepared to meet the demands of higher learning and of life while providing a disciplined yet nurturing atmosphere that combines academic excellence with Christian values. 1. The iPad must be brought to every class (unless otherwise notified by the teacher). Failure to bring the iPad may result in an academic penalty. 2. The iPad must be sufficiently charged before every class. If a student is unable to participate in class because a battery has expired, an academic penalty may result. 3. All messaging and push notifications apps should be disabled upon entering the school each day. All forms of messaging through the iPad (e.g. Messenger, FaceTime, etc.) are not allowed during school hours or afterschool help/make-up sessions. 4. The iPad may be utilized only with teacher permission once class begins. 5. The iPad must be used exclusively for educational purposes during school. For example, using the internet, utilizing social media or checking email is not allowed without teacher permission. 6. The iPad must be off during all testing unless given teacher permission. Failure to comply will be considered a violation of Bishop Stangs academic dishonesty policy. 7. If at any time a student is found to be accessing inappropriate media on the iPad, the teacher reserves the right to confiscate the iPad and turn in to the Assistant Principal of Students. 8. No recording devices or applications (video, photo, or audio) are allowed without teacher permission. 9. Teachers are responsible for creating a positive, enriching classroom atmosphere; therefore, if any unforeseen incidents related to iPad use occur, the BSHS faculty and administration reserve the right to take appropriate measures.
