    This document examines changes in GDP per inhabitant between 1999-2001 and 2004-2006 for various NUTS 2 regions in the EU-27, measured in Purchasing Power Standards (PPS). It shows that several French overseas regions (Guadeloupe, Martinique, Guyane, Réunion) saw their GDP per inhabitant fall below 75% of the EU-27 average or increase above 75% of the average during this period. The autonomous regions of Azores and Madeira (Portugal), Canary Islands (Spain), Malta, and Iceland all experienced GDP per inhabitant increases over 75% of the EU-27 average.
