CHEMICAL NAME: Sodium Alpha Olefin Sulfonate
DESCRIPTION
Colonial AOS-40 is a pale yellow to light amber aqueous solution of sodium C14-16
alpha olefin sulfonate. Colonial AOS-40 combines the advantages of high foaming

APPLICATIONS
Liquid Hand Soap
Colonial AOS-40 combines the advantages of excellent cleaning action with mildness to
the skin when used in liquid soap formulations. Colonial ASO-40, when used with amine
oxide and electrolytes, produces high viscosity, low color products.

Car Washing Compounds

Colonial AOS-40, when compounded with other sulfonates and amides, yields high
dense foam. This is especially useful in the foaming brush type cleansers.

Light-Duty Liquid Detergents

Colonial AOS-40 in dishwashing liquids, along with other anionics, produces products
that have excellent grease emulsification, mildness to the hands, and excellent foam
stability. Colonial AOS-40 produces superior cleaning in very hard water, thus, reducing
the need for expensive soluble builders in the formulation.
