Rangos de las SS
Las SS (SchutzStaffel o escuadras de proteccin) del NSDAP (Partido Nacionalsocialista Alemn de los Trabajadores), como indican sus siglas en alemn, fue un grupo de proteccin para los mtines del partido, as como para la guardia personal (aunque no la nica) de Adolf Hitler. Estos niveles se asignaban de acuerdo a la trayectoria, antigedad y actos de valor de sus miembros, as como el nivel intelectual y de estudio. Tambin se asignaron rangos ad honrem solamente Emblema con las letras SS convertidas en autorizados por el reichsfhrer-SS con el fin de establecer puentes de runas.[citarequerida] poltica entre diferentes organismos gubernamentales. Los rangos de las SS allgemeine-SS (SS General) no eran los mismos que para las Waffen SS (SS Armadas) que surgieron luego de 1939 y que fueron un ejrcito lite de combate. No todos los miembros de las SS eran simultneamente miembros de las Waffen SS y al ingresar en este cuerpo deban ser reclasificados para el servicio. Durante el tiempo de existencia de la Alemania nazi se elaboraron varios registros denominados Dienstalterliste der SS, consistentes en libros de promocin con los datos de muchos oficiales del cuerpo armado. Los grados de oficial hasta jefes se obtenan tras cursar estudios en las dos academias de las SS.

Generales
Reichsfhrer-SS: mariscal general de campo, jefe supremo de las SS, cargo poltico nombrado directamente por Adolf Hitler. SS-Oberstgruppenfhrer: coronel general. Tambin se otorg de manera ad-honorem, como en los casos de Rudolf Hess y Franz Xavier Schwartz. (general de 4 estrellas) SS-Obergruppenfhrer: teniente general (general de 3 estrellas) SS-Gruppenfhrer: general de divisin (general de 2 estrellas) SS-Brigadefhrer: general de brigada (general de 1 estrella)

SS-Oberfhrer: coronel senior. SS-Standartenfhrer: coronel. SS-Obersturmbannfhrer: teniente coronel. SS-Sturmbannfhrer: comandante o mayor. SS-Hauptsturmfhrer: capitn. SS-Obersturmfhrer: teniente. SS-Untersturmfhrer: subteniente.

SS-Rottenfhrer: cabo primero. SS-Sturmmann: cabo segundo. SS-Oberschutze: soldado de primera clase o distinguido. SS-Schtze: soldado raso. SS-Anwrter: recluta. SS-Bewerber: candidato.
