SERVER SPECIFICATIONS:

PC Based Server (INTEL)


PENTIUM IV Processors 2.4 GHz, L2 Cache 512 KB (and above)
1 GB SD RAM upgradable to 2GB MB RAM
2 x 40.1 GB HDD, FAST SCSI
Floppy Disk Drive 1.44 MB
Monitor SVGA color 14’
Keyboard, Mouse
CD-ROM 52xCD (and above) SCSI Drive (high speed CD ROM drive recommended)
Ultra Wide SCSI controller
DAT Tape drive 12 GB storage
Modem 56 KBPS (for remote support and upgrades)
100 MBPS Intel Express Pro or Equivalent

Windows 2000 / 2003 licensed copy based on No. of users to be installed based on specs as
follows
Network Partition: 25% of total Disk space. (for Windows NT system files and utilities)
Rest of the disk space will be used for SQL server/Fortune applications/Database
Configure the Network Partition as Drive C: and the Rest of the Disk as Drive D:
Microsoft SQL Server (RDBMS) licensed copy based on No. of users to be installed on
Windows NT Server

CLIENT SPECIFICATIONS:

PENTIUM 1.6 GHz Processor (and above)


Cache 256 KB L2
256 MB RAM upgradable to 512 MB RAM
Hard Disk 40.1 GB
Floppy Disk Drive 1.44
Monitor SVGA color 14’

100 MBPS Intel Express Pro or Equivalent

Printers 80/300 CPS or Laser printer as required. Dot Matrix printers should have push tractor
mechanism. (This is required for pre-printed stationary)

Windows 98/2000 / XP / 2003 Workstation licensee copies as per requirement and number of
users

MS OFFICE 2000 Professional Version to be installed on nodes where Fortune GUI is being
used.

Anti-virus software to be installed on all clients nodes.


PROCEDURES FOR CREATING THE DATABASE

After installing the MSSQL 7.0/2000 please follow the below mentioned steps for creating database,
creation of the user and assigning rights to the newly create user.

Open the SQL7.0/2000 Enterprise manager by going to start, programs & sql7/2000 and select the
Enterprise manager as shown below.

Double click the Microsoft SQL Server


Double Click SQL Server Groups
On double clicking the sql server Group you will get the installed sql server
This will invoke the newly installed or an installed SQL Server

Locate the database folder which will resided below the sql server
In the below mentioned case its (Local)(Windows NT) it can also be your System name/Server Name.

Right click the database folder you will be prompted for a new database drop box

Type the name of the database


In the below Mentioned case it is PMS

In the location option where in you have to locate a drive which is having a larger place to
accommodate database and its high transaction. Ensure that you select a larger partition for a
smooth operation of SQL Server.

This completes the Creation of the database.

Procedure for creating the User and assigning the rights


Click on the + mark associated with the Security , Right click on the Logins
You will be prompted for the creation of the new login

In this screen you are having 3 tabs…namely General, Server Roles, Database Access

Perform the following General Option screen

Enter the name of the Database User


(In the below mentioned case its PMS)
1.1 Choose SQL Server Authentication and type the password
In the last option of this page will be Defaults wherein you have to select the language and default
database. Let the language remains default and select the database as PMS

Server Roles:
Leave it as defaults

In Database Access Screen perform the below mentioned activities

Select the database what you have created (PMS) {Tick the Check Box associated with the database
PMS}

In the Database roles for ‘pms’


Select the Public and db_owner checkboxes

Followed by pressing OK will prompt you for reconfirming the password for the user
Enter the same password what you entered in the general options

Double click the databases and Right click the database (PMS) wherein you will get a list of databases
Namely : MASTER,MODEL,MSDB,NORTHWIND,PUBS ,TEMPDB (Which are created during the
MSSQL 7.0 Installation by default) & PMS (created newly)
PMS will be listed among these databases.

In the Option screen Please ensure that AUTO CLOSE,AUTO SHRINK, AUTOCREATE
STATISTICS & AUTO UPDATE STATISTICS options are checked (Clicked).

In the Permission window you have to select all the checkboxes for both PUBLIC and PMS user

Proceed with apply

This above mentioned process will complete the procedure of creating the user and assigning the rights to
the PMS user.
INSTALLING THE VB SETUP CONTROLS & DATE TIME SETTINGS

VBSETUP/XPETUP Folder  Run The Setup.exe file.

Setup.exe

Skip all the Error Message. Once Install completed please Re-Start the Machine.

Customize

Short Date Format : dd/MM/yy Long Date Format : dddd, MMMM dd, yyyy
ODBC SETUP PROCEDURE

From Desktop Click ON START -> RUN -> Type in ODBCAD32 -> Click on OK

Click on ADD

Select SQL SERVER -> Click on FINISH


Type in as Shown and Click on NEXT

Click on the selection as shown by the red circle and type in the Login ID : PMS
Password :PMS. Click on NEXT
Enter the information as Shown and click on NEXT

Click on FINISH
Click on Test Data source

This message should come up on successful completion of the procedure. Click on OK


Click on OK .

Click on OK
Fortune is ready for execution.

Configure PMS directory from Server to any drive(Assume Drive T:)

Select the DSN Click On START
PROCEDURES FOR RESTORING THE DATABASE

Open the SQL7.0/2000 Enterprise manager by going to start, programs & sql7/2000 and select the
Enterprise manager as shown below.
Select the Database

Right ClickAll TasksRestore Database


Select the location of the Backup File

Mention the physical path of the file name(.mdf & .ldf)


Click on  Force Restore Over existing database OK
ACTIVATION OF LOGIN TO PMS DATABASE

Open the SQL7.0/2000 Enterprise manager by going to start, programs & sql7/2000 and select the
Query Analyzer as shown below.
Log in ScreenLogin SA

Execute the following command by clicking F5

This will enable login to PMS
