Joint Network Node (JNN) operator/maintainer and shift supervisor; supporting communications throughout the whole 1st Brigade Combat Team (BCT) 1st Cavalry Division, area of operations while deployed to Operation Iraqi Freedom 06-08. Provided a network of communications that was comprised of over ninety VoIP phones, over 30 laptop computers and numerous plain old telephones (POTs phones). Other services provided were: Video Tele-Conferences (VTCs) which allows for conferences with not only voice, but a visual image of the distant end as well. Also provided long distance calling ability from Iraq to state side. Other duties included in my job were: running TFOCA I/II (fiber optic) cables as well as CAT-5 and CAT-6 cables. Also spliced and made CAT -5-6 cables according the Cisco standard. Incorporated line of sight (LOS) antennas as the primary way of incorporating other networks spread out across the battle field and set up redundant links using the KU Band Satellite as a back-up to the Line of Sight (LOS) shots to keep the network operational. My knowledge and expertise is in the following pieces of equipment: Cisco Routers and switches, Cisco Call Managers, Cisco 7905, 7940 and 7960 VoIP phones, PBX Redcom, Promina 400, Trunk Encryption Devices (KIV-19), Data Encryption Devices (KIV-7), Taclanes, CTM-100s (media converters), Paragain modems, Flexmux, Juniper Netscreen firewalls, MRV, ANCD (comsec storage/transfer device), Linkway (for TDMA), DMD20 (for FDMA), Spectrum Analyzer, and Antenna Control Unit.
