NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF FASHION TECHNOLOGY (NIFT)

Fashion is architecture: it is a matter of proportions said Coco Chanel, and rightly so. The Institute has recently been conferred the statutory status through the Act of Parliament called the NIFT Act 2006 for the promotion and development of education and research in fashion technology Since its inception in 1986, the institute has played a pioneering role in envisioning and evolving Fashion business education in the country. With growing demand for skilled manpower from the Fashion business industry across the country, the Institute expanded its operations in 1995-96 by establishing six additional Centers at Bangalore, Chennai, Gandhinagar, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai. During 2007 to 2010, seven more centers were established in Rae Bareli, Shillong, Bhopal, Patna, Kannur, Jodhpur and Bhubaneswar in collaboration with the State Governments.
