Warm Up Inference Packet Introduction and why we study The Holocaust http://www.ushmm.org/remember/daysof-remembrance/about-days-ofremembrance/why-we-remember-theholocaust Students will complete a note-taking guide during the viewing of the video Class discussion of key points Read and discuss I Keep Forgetting (a poem by a Holocaust survivor)

HW: Pretend that you have to leave your home quickly. You can only take 5 items with you in your rush out the door. What five items would you take and why? No pets, no family, no friends, (they all made it) and no electronics. Make a list of the objects and why you would take them. Bring this to class with you tomorrow.

Warm Up Inference Packet Have students share the paragraph they wrote for homework. Today we will begin reading 2 different accounts of The Diary of Anne Frank and then compare and contrast the texts. Begin by reading excerpts from the play, The Diary of Anne Frank in the Prentice Hall literature book (pg. 776)

HW: Read and annotate A Holocaust Survivors Tale
