5 th GRADE NATIVE AMERICAN FAIR

Dear Parents and Students: Our fifth graders have begun studying the Native Americans of North America and will be participating in our Native American Fair at Williams School. The students will have to work hard in school and at home to prepare their projects to share with the rest of the fifth grade and the Williams Community. Each student has been assigned a Native American Region and will be asked to complete the following at home: STUDENTS, please prepare: 1. Visual Item (Due Friday, November 22, 2013) You will create a visual representation that shows something about the way of life of the tribe in their region. You may choose to represent any of the topics from their in-class research (which will be completed in class.) The visual representation may take the form of a drawing, 3-D model, chart, diorama, or an artifact. The visual representations should be able to fit on a class desk. Project Proposal (Due Friday, November 15, 2013) Students will have to fill out and submit their plan sheet to their teacher ensuring that they are well underway in the progress of their work at home on the visual representation. 2. Description (Due Friday, November 22, 2013) You will write a description of your visual representation. The description must be a typed paragraph describing what their representation is and how it relates to their respective tribe (8-10 sentences). You must make sure you have addressed the question: How did the geography/climate/weather affect the ways in which this Native American nation lived. Parents: We will host parents in our classroom from 8:00-8:45. So that we know you understand the home assignments for the Native American Fair, please sign and return the attached sheet by Friday, November 8, 2013.
