Geoffrey Bawa

Famous Sri Lankan architect


Influential Asian architect
Born 23rd July 1919 and died 27th May 2003 at the age of 83
Tropical Modernism- Vernacular architecture

He became apprenticed to the architectural practice of Edwards Reid and Begg in Colombo after
he advanced his education in architecture by gaining a Diploma in Architecture from Architectural
Association, London in 1956
Associate of the Royal Institute of British architects
Works mainly in Sri Lanka
Houses, clubs, hotels, schools, offices, government buildings
Geoffrey Bawa's work range mainly in Sri Lanka, however he has worked in several other
countries as well: nine times in India, three times in Indonesia, twice in Mauritius and once in
Japan, Pakistan, Fiji, Egypt and Singapore. His works include houses, hotels, schools, clubs,
offices and government buildings, most notably the Sri Lankan Parliament Building.
He received the Architect of the Year award in India in 1996

Thomas OBrian

Thomas earned his bachelor of science degrees in Architecture and Construction Engineering
from Lawrence Institute of Technology in 1979 and 1984
Worked with Wah Yee Associates, Architects and Planners in Southfield, Michigan
In 1993, Thomas and his family moved to Northern Michigan where he became a partner and
owner of Reibscheger and OBrian Architects
He began his own private practice in 2002
Hes always on the hunt for unique and special pieces
Hes been said not to be a decorator, but rather someone who is interested in the complete idea.

Hadi Teherani

Born February 2nd, 1954 in Teheran, Iran


Received an Architecture diploma in 1984 from Braunschweig Technical University
Worked as a staff architect in Cologne from 1984-1987
From 1989-1991 he worked as a teacher at Aachen Technical School
Has been an independent architect since 1990
Founded the office of BRT Architekten Bothe Richter Teherani located in Hamburg in 1991

Besides his headquarter in Hamburg, he has further offices in Moscow and Dubai.
He additionally focuses on Interior Design and Furniture Design
