Double-Page Spread: Software Tools

I placed the image I took with the schools digital camera onto my A4 canvas, and then deleted the background layer. I placed an image on my DPS because all o the DPS I have seen on the Internet and in maga!ines have had some sort o image on them.

I created a new layer and then used the colour picker tool to select the colour o the background o my image. I decided to make the background o my DPS the same colour as the background o my image because it looks pro essional and altogether, rather than separated and messy. "he background colour is also ideal because it has no complicated patterns on it and when my te#t is placed onto the DPS it will be easy to read.

I used the paint bucket tool to ill the background layer in the same colour as the background o my image.

I used the te#t tool to add some te#t onto my DPS. I have used te#t on my DPS $other than the main article te#t% because I need to make a title or the article. "his means my DPS will look pro essional and it will be easy or the reader to identi y what the article is about. I have used a cursive ont because it contrasts with the ont that will be behind it& a bold, sans'seri ont. "his means that the page doesnt look too boring and bland and the handwritten'style ont adds a sense o creativity to the DPS.

(ere I have used the same $te#t% tool to add some te#t behind the previous te#t. "he cursive ont is overlapping the bold sans'seri ont because I used ) di erent layers or each piece o te#t. I have also changed the opacity o the te#t *"+,- so it becomes a light grey rather than black.

(ere you can see the tool I used to change the opacity o said layer.

I have created my actual DPS article in Microsoft Office Publisher, D"P so tware, rather than Photoshop because it is more e.uipped or handling large amounts o te#t. I have imported my inal DPS background image into Publisher.

I have created a te#tbo# and copy and pasted my article te#t into it. I have split my te#tbo# into / columns so the article its in neatly. "he di erent columns add some blank space which makes it look pro essional and tidy. I have used a modern, sans'seri ont or my article so it its in with the modern, stylish theme o my whole maga!ine.

Above is the tool I used to create the / di erent columns in my article.

I also created a drop'cap at the beginning o my article because it looks pro essional and will grab the readers attention. "he dropcap is also in the same ont as the cursive ont that is on the DPS $0hes got the1% because consistency is pro essional.

I created a pull .uote by making another te#t bo# and placing it in the centre o my article. All o the DPS I have seen have had pull .uotes on them because they allow people to get an idea o what the article is about and entice them into reading it. I have made the ont o my pull .uote di erent to the ont o my article te#t so it stands out rom the main article body.
