Please be careful when ordering repair parts for the FAR2805 Series Radars, since not all units contain the same parts and assemblies. This Service Advisory describes the different assemblies that you may encounter when servicing these Radars.

CRT Monitor Assembly

There are two different types of CRT Monitor Assemblies used in the FAR2805 Series Radars: 1. The original CRT Monitor Assembly is Mitsubishi type CDT-2901B-1A, and it is inventoried under P/N 000-136-185. 2. The current-production CRT Monitor Assembly is Toshiba type CDMC-29CF301, and it is inventoried under P/N 000-140-065. These (complete) CRT Monitor Assemblies are interchangeable. For example: a technician can remove the original CRT Monitor Assembly (P/N 000-136-185), and replace it with the currentproduction CRT Monitor Assembly (P/N 000-140-065), or vice versa. Both (complete) CRT Monitor Assemblies are interchangeable and direct replacements for one another. However, the subassemblies contained in these units are not interchangeable. For example: a technician can not use parts from an original CRT Monitor Assembly to repair a current-production CRT Monitor Assembly. With this in mind, please order the appropriate repair parts for the CRT Monitor Assembly contained in the Radar. To quickly determine which CRT Monitor Assembly your customer has, verify the Radars serial number, and refer to the list below. (The serial number is identified on the Equipment Identification Tag located on the Radar Display unit). The following serial-numbered units contain the current-production CRT Monitor Assembly. All other serial-numbered units contain the original CRT Monitor Assembly. Model FAR2815 FAR2825 FAR2825W FAR2835S FAR2835SW FR2825 FR2825W Serial Number 3316-0172 and after. 3317-0336 and after. Also 3317-0327, 0328, 0331 3338-0070 and after. 3322-0266 and after. 3339-0054 and after. 3315-0033 and after. 3340-0021 and after.

Please refer to the attached Parts List and Schematic Diagrams for detailed descriptions and P/Ns for the subassemblies contained in these different CRT Monitor Assemblies.

Antenna Units for FAR2815 and FAR2825 Radars

Original Gearboxes: The original FAR2815 Radars used Gearbox type C2P7N2N-028. This Gearbox was provided with all Radars identified with serial numbers 3316-0271 and below. This is the same Gearbox that was provided with our FR2110 Radars. The original FAR2825 Radars used Gearbox type RSB0014-029. This Gearbox was provided with all Radars identified with serial numbers 3317-0643 and below. (Excluding S/N 3317-0640). This is the same Gearbox that was provided with our FR2120 Radars. These original Gearboxes will accept the following antennas: 1. 2. 3. 4. AR7/10ANT4 Antenna (XN2B, 4-foot) XN3B/ANT6 Antenna (XN3B, 6.5-foot) AR7/10ANT8 Antenna (XN4A, 8-foot) XN5A/ANT10 Antenna (XN5A, 10-foot)

These original Gearboxes can be identified at a glance; both employ the J-shaped waveguide assembly that routes the RF energy from the Rotary Joint to the end of the Slotted Array Antenna. If you require repair parts for the original-style Gearbox, please refer to the attached Parts List. Also, please refer to the Schematic Diagrams contained in your FAR2805 Series Service Manual. Current-Production Gearboxes: The current-production FAR2815 Radars use Gearbox type RSB0074-062. This Gearbox will be provided with all FAR2815 Radars identified with serial numbers 3316-0272 and above. This is the same Gearbox that is provided with the FR2115 and the FR1510MK3 Radars. The current-production FAR2825 Radars use Gearbox type RSB0074-063. This Gearbox will be provided with all FAR2825 Radars identified with serial numbers 3317-0644 and above. (S/N 33170640 also contains this current-production Gearbox). This is the same Gearbox that is provided with the FR2125 and the FR1525MK3 Radars. These current-production Gearboxes will accept the following antennas: 1. 2. 3. XN12AF/4 Antenna (4-foot) XN20AF/6.5 Antenna (6.5-foot) XN24AF/8 Antenna (8-foot)

These current-production Gearboxes can be identified at a glance; they do not employ the J-shaped waveguide assembly required with the original Gearboxes. If you require repair parts for a current-production FAR2815 or FAR2825 Gearbox, please refer to the attached Parts List and Schematic Diagrams.

Antenna Units for FAR2835S Radars

Original Gearboxes: The original FAR2835S Radars used Gearbox type RSB-0026-3. This Gearbox was provided with all Radars identified with the following serial numbers: FR-2835S: FAR-2835S: S/N 3321-0032 and below S/N 3322-0525 and below

This is the same Gearbox that was provided with our FR2130S Radars. If you require repair parts for the original-style FAR2835S Gearbox, please refer to the attached Parts List. Also, please refer to the Schematic Diagrams contained in your FAR2805 Series Service Manual. Current-Production Gearboxes: The current-production FAR2835S Radars use Gearbox type RSB-0026-0066-1. This Gearbox will be provided with all Radars identified with the following serial numbers: FR-2835S: FAR-2835S: S/N 3321-0033 and above S/N 3322-0526 and above

This is the same Gearbox that is being provided with the FR2135S Radar. If you require repair parts for a current-production FAR2835S Gearbox, please refer to the attached Parts List and Schematic Diagrams.
