Charttwoindicatesmycurrentareasofstrength,theseareareasinwhichIhave workedveryhardonandwanttocontinuetoexcelinaswellgrowin.Mystrongestareas areteamworkandutilizingdatatomakeinstructionaldecisions.Ibelievethatthesetwo areasweremystrongestbecausethesepracticesaretrulyembeddedintomyprofessional practiceeachday.Whenconsideringwhytheseareaarestrengthsandwhytheymust continueIwasreflectingonmyworkinmyprofessionallearningcommunityaswellasmy workwithmyteamalmostdailyusingformativeandsummativeassessmentstoplanfor instruction.Thisisapracticethathappenscontinuouslyandwithoutquestion.Thetwoother areasofstrengththatdonotsurprisemearecreatingapositivelearningenvironmentfor studentsandhelpinglearnersbecomecaringcitizens.Ibelievethesearestrengthsof minebecauseofmyclassroomandkindergartenteachingexperience.WhenIamcreating acultureinmyclassroomthesearetwoveryimportantthingsIwanttoshinethrough.I strivetocreateacultureforlearningandcaringforeachotherandalsomakingmy classroomafunpositiveatmospheretobeginlearningandestablishtheloveoflearning.I believethatmytrainingandpracticearoundResponsiveClassroom,specificallythe MorningMeetingcomponenthashelpedmedothisoverthepastsevenyears.Ifeelour adoptionofpositivebehaviorinterventionsupportshascreatedtimeforteachingbehavior inaproactivepositiveway.Onestrengthareathatdidsurprisemewasassistingothersin formingopinionsonissues.AsIreflectedwhenIwasdoingtheselfevaluationIthoughtthis wasanareathatIwouldneedtofocusonforgrowthandIstillbelievethat. Chartthreeindicatesmycurrentareasforgrowthaccordingtotherawdatafrom mysurvey.Imustadmitonlyoneoftheseareassomewhatsurprisedme.Itooktheareas inthesatisfactoryrangeandtheareasthatwerenotyetobservedbyotherstodetermine myareasforfocus.ThisgavemeaclearpictureofwhatareasIwillneedtoincludeinmy practicumplantogainmoreexperienceandunderstanding.ThefirstareathatIagreeIwill wanttofocusonisusingdatatoevaluateprograms.WhileIamfamiliarwithusingdatato makeinstructionaldecisionsformystudentsinmyclassroom,Ihavenothadthe opportunitytoanalyzeormanagedataasitrelatestoplanningandmakingdecisionsfor programs.Thesecondareawasdemonstratinganunderstandingofstaffdevelopmentto improvetheperformanceofallstaffmembers.ThiswasanareathatIhadseveralpeople markmeinthenotobservedrange.ThisdoesnotsurprisemebecauseeventhoughI participateinstaffdevelopmentopportunitiesIrealizeothershavenotobservedme deliveringorplanninganystaffdevelopment.Thethirdareathatshowedupasagrowth areaformewasmodelingsharedleadershipanddecisionmakingstrategies.Iwasalittle surprisedatthisbutinlookingmorecloselyattheresultsofthesurveyIfellintheproficient andsatisfactoryrange,howeverIknowwhatanextremelyimportantcompetencythisisin educationalleadership,thisisdefinitelyanareaIwanttogrowandbecomeexemplaryin! Thelastareaforgrowthiscreatingaculturethatfostersacommunityoflearners.Thisdid notsurprisemeeitherbecauseeventhoughIcreatethatinmyclassroomwithmystudents

Iamnotsurethatisevidentthroughoutmybuilding.Iparticipateinprofessional developmentopportunitiesbutIhavenotledorinitiatedanyofthelearningasaleaderyet. AsIlookaheadtomypracticumplanIwanttocontinuetogrowintheareasthatI showstrengthsinbutIreallywanttofocusontheareasofgrowththathavebeenidentified bythissurveyaswellasothercorecompetencies.Ihavebeenakindergartenteacherin twodifferentdistrictsoversevenyears.Iplantojoinmyschoolsleadershipteamand continuetobuildmyleadershipskillsinanelementaryschoolsettinguntilIhavegained moreexperienceandknowledge.Iamexcitedtoventureoutintothe612schoolsettingin thefuture.Ihavehadseveralconversationsmybuildingadministratorandsheisexcitedto givemeanyexperiencesshecanoverthenextfourweeks. PlanofAction Keepinggrowthinmind,Iwantedleadershipopportunitiesthatwouldgiveme experienceandlearninginseveralofthecorecompetencyareas.Mymainfocusformy practicumwillbeonourschoolsadoptionofRTI(responsetointervention).Iwillbeableto beapartofthelearning,planning,staffing,communicatingwithstaff,aswellaslookingat interventionsthatwillbeused.Thisisabrandnewinitiativeinourbuildingsoitwillbegreat experiencetoseeitfromthebeginningconversationsandlearningtotheimplementation inthefall.ReflectingonthecompetenciesrelatedtoourRTIinitiativeIcouldpossiblygain amultitudeofexperiencesinleadership,organizationalmanagement,communication, curriculumplanning,instructionalmanagement,humanresources,problemanalysis,and instructionalleadership. Inconclusion,asakindergartenteacherIthinkitwillbeespeciallychallengingand importantformetostepoutofmyteacherboxandeducatemyselfasafutureadministrator throughthispracticum.Iwanttofocusonthefourareasidentifiedfromthesurvey,butIalso thinkitisimportanttofocusontheothercoreleadershipcompetenciesaswell.
