Inquiry Topic I am really interested in finding out more information about residential architecture. I

would like to have a little focus on luxury residential architecture but its hard to narrow it down that far. I have always had a thing for building and designing residential structures but I never really knew what one had to do and what it takes. I am mainly going to focus on how to become a residential architect, is there going to be a need for residential architects and the life of an architect. The main thing that I always wondered is that, is there going to be a high demand for residential architects with how the housing economy is doing and how it will be in the future. II. Background For my background in architecture, I have a pretty strong understanding of the basics of architecture but not enough to fully know what to do. I did do a research project my senior year of high school, which had some relation to architecture, but it was not focused on residential architecture. With that being said I know the basics of architecture, but not a specific topic like residential. I did that project because I knew at a young age that I wanted to become and architect because I enjoyed drawing and building things. I also had a thing for art class and I am pretty strong at math, so becoming an architect is those two things combined. This is my dream job and what I would love to do if I got the opportunity to do it. It also is who I am and what I want to be. Becoming an architect is something I have dreamed about doing since I was little and played with Legos. This profession is part of who I am and is something that I identify with as a person. III. This article is about how some of the permits work for residential architecture. This will help me better understand why they do what they do and make sure everything is up to code so it passes inspection. IV. Multimodal Project Idea I have a few ideas about what kind of project I would want to do. I would love to build a scale model of a luxury house, however I dont think I have the time and materials to build one. I have been thinking about what I can do and I have this program that allows me to design houses. What I would like to do is design a house on that program and finish it from exterior to interior and landscaping. I can then take different rendering pictures of the house and make a small plan for a potential client. With the limited recourses that program offers, since I didnt want to spend $900 on the full program, I can only do the basics. I cant make a draft plan on the expenses and all the materials but I can design the house with great detail inside and out. I would also be able to print off the floor plans and also 3-D models of the finished house. V. Plan I am going to approach the research in the same manner as I did my senior project. I am going to read over all these articles and pull out things that I want to incorporate in my project

and put it all together. Since I got passed the first stage of the architectural building phase I can now get some information about the architectural program here at UNCC. That will also help me with getting some knowledge about the education aspect of becoming an architect. I will have to be strict with my due dates so I get everything on time and dont lose any points. I plan on starting the annotated reference as soon as we talk a little more about it so I can get that out of the way. As the multimodal project, I will have to start on that soon because designing a house take a little bit of time. As far as dates are concerned about the project, it is hard to determine a set date because other things might pop up but I plan on having the reference done 2 maybe 3 days before the deadline and the project the same. I really need to push myself to get the project done because that will be the most time consuming thing.
