Five Years beyond High School
My name is Samantha Gallegos and I am a soon to be graduating senior at Merced High
School. As I graduate on from high school, I will go on to college and graduate and get into
medical school. These are some broad details of my career goal into becoming a successful
Obstetrician/ Gynecologist. I will become a physician in the future but the only way into
achieving my goal is to excel in college and work part time to provide for myself soon enough
when I move out of my parents house.
At first, I was going to attend California State University, Monterey Bay, but as problems
arose, I will now attend Merced College and transfer to a University for the rest of my
undergraduate education. I will work part time to save up to have some money when I attend.
Particularly I would like to work retail in the meantime. Then I will go to medical school,
hopefully get accepted into UCLA Medical School or University of San Francisco Medical
School. Either way, I want to go to medical school. I will then do my residency and become a
successful physician. As I attend Merced College, I will take General Educational classes and
then when I transfer I will be studying pre-med, which is biology.
As I continue with my undergraduate studies, I will be living with my parents. Making
my dedication more efficient to transferring to a University, it will allow me to focus more on
my studies than expenses that will be distracting. My parents will get me a car for I can transport
myself easier to school and work and I will go to college with their help.

My short term goals for the future are to graduate from high school, college, and medical
school. I want to be an efficient learner with amazing grades. I want to move on with my
education and become successful in whatever I do. I see myself in 5 years at UCLA or UCSF
going to medical school living with my five friends that would live in LA by then. I will attend
Medical School with my best friend and be a mature woman with dedication and responsibility.
I want to become a physician when I reach adulthood, and I have to continue my
education. I am going to have make sacrifices because my parents do not make sufficient size. I
want to transfer from Merced College to hopefully UC Merced, and graduate there. Then move
in with my friends in Los Angeles and go to University of California, Los Angeles. I will be
working throughout my education hopefully in retail and then in Disneyland when I move to Los
Angeles. Most importantly I see myself in 5 years in a classroom learning about the tissue of our
body.
