In begin it is very difficult to me. Virtual method wasn´t like I expected and this
was very sad because I couldn´t execute all works. However over time I was taking
the rate, and just only I like me that.
Thanks especially to teachers Alba and Nathalia. To Alba for her preoccupation on
my worst moments in this course and to Nathalia for her support, guidance and
direction to take this course forward.
The first week of activities, I was a little lost. I arrived rather late to Our Coffee Shop, but in this I began to
meet the class and my classmates.
Hi everyone, my name is Ingrid Liliana Torres; I am student of Plastics Arts School. I'm in ninth semester.

My expectations for this course are to improve my English level and achieve a good level of
communication.
In the second week, we were participating in the Global Warming Forum, next my participation and the
corrections made by teacher Alba.
Although it is a campaign for saving water, Colombians don’t pay attention to it because we believe it is forever. We need to promote
consciousness campaigns for saving our natural resources.
1. In what way do gases such as carbon dioxide contribute to global warming?
The Carbon dioxide controlling the intensity of heat entering the atmosphere, this acts as a hub of that energy.
With more carbon dioxide in the atmosphere will be greater heat Concentrated. Its increase land surface temperature, which will melt
the poles, there will be more floods and other harmful effects on terrestrial ecosystems.
2. Which pollutants are more harmful: primary pollutants or secundary pollutants? Why?
R/ The primary pollutants are most harmful. They are directly discharged into the atmosphere, in products such as aerosols, products
of burning fossil fuels, hydrocarbons and others.
While secondary pollutants are generated from the interactions of chemicals in the atmosphere, and we havent control over their
interactions.
3. What are the most polluted cities of the world?
R/ According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the seven most polluted cities in the world are Mexico D. F., Beijing, Cairo,
Jakarta, Los Angeles, Sao Paulo and Moscow.
4. What concrete actions have governments taken to restore the natural characteristics of the atmosphere modified by air pollution?
R/ Governments have initiated awareness and education campaigns on the use of resources and pollutants. Initiatives such as saving 5
water, search for new energy sources that don´t produce carbon dioxide, and education on recycling are measures to stop the
In our times, the TV has become in an object very important on our homes. In the TV begins was very difficult to access at one of them. People
read books and they spent more time with their family. The programming was short but it tries cultural, governmental and n ationalists topics.
However, over the years the access to the TV is turned into something massive, and now is a powerful mass tool of informatio n .
Is a pity that in our country, a factor that wo uld be useful to educate and train tho ught, it has been used exclusively commercial ends, a mass
TV that doesn´t promoted beyond the poor dramas. On national TV doesn’t have spaces for culture, or for education, and instead if we have a
wide range of commercials that sell the idea of happiness.
I think tha t unfortunately people spend much time watching television and I say spending precisely because it isn´t an investment in
kno wledge, at least for those who only have access to natio nal TV. At the international level we can find some suggestions fo r training, culture
and knowledge.
In the last ten years, the coverage of the cable televisio n signal has expanded, thus we are having a wide range of programmi ng possibilities.
The TV channels now are classifies by themes various, such as news, sports, food, children, economy, among other varieties.
One of the advantages of watching TV is to know the points of views of other people around the world, have access to the information o n
various topics and from different approaches, and have a global view of the developments of mankind. Also as an educational t ool in those
channels that lends them to it, could be many benefits, from those engaged in child training, even those who somehow reporting on general
culture and autono mous projects.
It is remarkable that this expansion was given by the income from advertising to television since last decades. This funding has led to more
channels, more proposals and programs, but at the same time also makes general spaces in particular spaces marked by those wh o distribute
these funds. In Colombia, there is an inhibition blatant advertising in the televisio n band; sixty percent of the programming for an hour of
televisio n is aimed at advertising, that which question us wonder ¿what types of legislation are designating the use of TV and its relationship to
commercial use?
Great work! Remember that when we use adjectives, we also need a noun that is qualified by the adjective. Be careful when typing. ;) Remember

In the fourth week, we were thinking about our future. Next is my participation. It was be corrected in
tutorial session by teacher Nathalia:
Fourth Participation: Thinking about our future
Thinking in the future is to think in many possible presents. Actually none of us has a certainty about if tomorrow
will be alive or not.
There are several factors in this theme that we would have in mind to talk about the future that holds for us. This is
because insofar as these factors degenerate or evolve so will be our quality of life.
Regarding the environmental issue for example, there are great expectations facing new phenomena and climate
changes that are taking place on the planet. If pollution levels both gaseous wastes, such as solid waste continue to
increase, very soon the conditions of air we breathe and water we consume will be totally unhealthy, damaged our
quality of life.
On the issue of infrastructure in cities, population growth is increasingly disproportionate. This cause cities also
operate in cords of misery, and also seek increased opportunities for housing ever higher, to save ground but thus
achieving greater deforestation to make way for these colossal structures.
On the issue of technological advances, this is even more worrisome. While these developments have made our
forms of communication are varied and easy, have also led to slavery to work and isolation of social relations face to
face.
There is also growing demand for natural resources to continue to innovate their technologies. And while these
mechanisms produce large amounts of radiation that are related to diseases like cancer.
In my personal case, I see my near future at the culmination of my career. I hope to be able to do a postgraduate,
professional position and work, and then to build a family with a sense of social responsibility, environmental and
cultural.
In the fifth week, we were finishing the M module, also we were voting by the Cultural Event Meeting
form, and in the forum we were talking about Laughs effects on our health, but I couldn´t participate in
this forum because I was sick and when I caught make, the video wasn´t it.
Module M: I want that all modules appear in sequence, there is the module M.

In the sixth week, we began the N module, and defined our cultural event meeting, we had to sent our
proposal for this event. I must confess that I seem this requirement in the dateline, and although I
knowed that I liked to do, I don’t write specific the project.
Media: Video
Objectives:
- Giving an outline of the concept of media art with representative examples of the video, the net art
animation and multimedia.
- Using both the medium and the grammar spoken to guide viewers in chronological order and
conceptual media arts.
- Making an excellent quality production to encourage not only listening and reading in English but
knowledge to visual arts.
Projection: Virtual.

Also in this week we were talking in the forum about Having Sex, next it was my participation, It was be
corrected in tutorial session by teacher Nathalia:
Sixth Participation: Having S. E. X
Today sexuality has become in sex. And the difference between the two in my personal opinion is that the
psychology, emotion, personality, bodily and genital connection are in the conception of sexuality, while sex refers
to the part exclusively bodily and genital human been.
Is concerned about the fact that nowadays more and more young people increasingly younger age, having sexual
experiences, without making the connection between sexuality meaning beyond pleasure.
Today we see child girls moms, as normal in our society, when what is inside is a family essentially social problems,
where fill those empty mood anyway. Not only in the case of sex, but drugs, alcohol and other vices.
I remember at school we were given a sex education class. A theme to which we did devoted a few hours and even
fewer words. I think the taboo imposed on sexuality is what makes the sex more attractive and tempting in a very
irresponsible action.
However, the responsibility (¿or irresponsibility?) It is not the lack of proper training of youth. The media also have
been charged with selling women as sex objects, men as more masculine between the more sex and women have.
Sex sells, and sells a lot. But until that point that we sell and we buy ¿fill our empty mood?
Actually if we don´t still psychological and emotional guidance to our young people from adolescence, continue to 305
see more sex, more unwanted children, more abortions and fewer families built with love.
In the seventh week, we were talking about our Regrets and Wishes, also we presented our First Progress
Test. It is my participation for Regrets and Wishes, I presented a rather post to teacher Nathalia:
In the eight week, we continued developing the N module, and we were talking about regrets and wishes
again, and preparing our English Project.
In the ninth week, we were finishing the N module, and we presented our Second Quiz.

In the tenth week, we began the O module, we continued organizing our projects of Cultural Event
Meeting, and we discussed about Madame Bovary dilemma. Next, my participation and the answers that
I had receive.
Me: The disenchantment of Madame Bovary
From a very feminine concept, for us women they are always selling the idea that our life is to seek love, with a Prince
Charming who will turn all our desires and whims.
However, this idea has changed radically over time. But keep something innate, it is the idea of romanticism, the ideal
man, and love forever.
Gustave Flaubert's Madame Bovary writing is this idealization of the couple and the marriage that it is not perfect as you
all know, the interesting thing is that he dared to disclose in a society romantic by nature.
Emma's passion moved, and the lack of passion and excitement in his life were the triggers of their mistakes.
Many times in the perfect things hasn´t emotion and in this point I am identifying with Emma. Sometimes we want good
men ... but not both. Carlos was the perfect man, respectable professional, exemplary son; husband beyond reproach, but
in all this display of qualities is missing one: The risk.
The overprotection given by the mother may have influenced the personality of Char les and the Emma's disappointment.
A man that is autonomous and independent he will tend to take more risks, to have a different conception of passion and
to live more boldly.
As a woman, I think my wait (not my search) is directed to a man who shares his mistakes with mine and deliver its
qualities and I will give him mine. I do not believe in the idea of the perfect man, but from personal experience the bad guy
is not a good option. I think women today have an advantage that Madame Bovary did not take hi s time. Today we, the
women can propose we can put a touch of risk, adventure and passion. It's all fine details of coquetry.
Me: I don´t think that my activities are insanes because I am only a woman with a love different perspective . Charles is a
good man, but he is very monotone, I don´t find adventures and emotions with him. The passion is a life motor, in the Leon
words I found a reason for dream, my imagination hasn´t limits.
Why I cann´t have they all for me? Why Charles dont have the Leon poetry and Rodolph passion?
Juror (Teacher Alba); I am really sorry but you are taking a different position. You are not acting as a juror.
Mr. Bovary:
You forgot to write your role. However, love can be made of paying attention and taking ca re of a good woman.
395
At week eleventh we continued preparing our Cultural Project Event, development the O module, and
participating on tutorial sessions.
396
At the twelfth week, we were studied O module and finishing it. We finally presented our Cultural Event
Meeting.
My video “Media Art” was posted on Youtube.com, It was last nine minutes and in this we can meet
various media art works from the '70s through 2008, each work can be explained in part either oral or
written partly in order to understand more easily with the development that occurred.
I had several problems with the virtual environment. Firstly the high image quality of the video, upload it
to the network was quite complicated. Subsequently although I was very careful with the credit of the
authors of these works to be intellectual property, three days having mounted the YouTube video
notified me that I had problems with two copyrights, one of a university and a Sony music and thus
limiting access. Finally at the end of the week the video was not visible. Try to mount it on another video
server but it was not possible, so I went up to yousendit and send the download link to the teacher Alba
and the forum got this address. I never really knew if they could finally see, and it is a shame because I
am indeed very proud of that work, now I'm trying to upload another file-sharing platform for sending
the link again. The following annex the frames of the video so they can get an idea of how it is.

There were our two last weeks, 13th and 14th. We had revised Cultural Event Projects, and we presented
our Second Progress Test. We have starting and finishing the P module, our last module.
There are our last forum questions and my answers for them:
1.1. Which personal reflections and thoughts were relevant during this English course?
As personal reflection I can say it was quite difficult at first to adapt this methodology, did not
quite understand the equivalence between what they were forums and tutorials, as this was a
very hectic semester where I am doing my graduate work, all I crossed and often could not
attend. Also I think that adequate time is a great tool to have a self-learning English language.
Personally I have improved and advanced enough, I think I miss a lot in time management for
example, but in the part of grammar, reading and vocabulary learned a lot and hopefully that
can be translated into the final exam.
1.2. Which are your strengths and weakness after taking this English course?
My strengths after the course you could say they are, grammar, reading and listening to
improve a lot.
My weaknesses are time management, exceptions, some diction and learning new vocabulary.
1.3. What things would you change in the course?
Of things that would change the course would be first the system modules, is well designed but
has a very serious problem one cannot save the history of what he does, that would be
essential. Would also suggest that more virtual tutorials, precisely because many of us signed
up virtual matter for the short time to attend a live class, but there is more than virtual-face
assistance. Finally perhaps enable interspersed with chat and forums, which would give a chance
to think fast and know a little more too, is all. De rest is just to thank the teachers for their
669
guidance, concern and order with the leading class. Thank you very much.
