Dear Alec,
Please accept my long overdue letter of thanks for your participation in our ‘Virtual Visiting
Professor Series’ with your September 24" Skype session- ‘Understanding openness and
networking in academic life’. Alec, | cannot begin to adequately express in a letter such as this
how much | appreciate your willingness to share your time and expertise with my colleagues
here in South Carolina at USC Upstate.
Most importantly, | thank you for the opportunity you provided for me to share how a personal
learning network might work and why it might be a good idea to try to build and participate in
one. This example of connecting with our colleague in Canada was such a perfect illustration,
‘And further, the kind of colleagueship you constantly display along with your thoughtful
dissemination of your scholarly contributions is exemplary. You are modeling for us how new
tools (like Skype for example) can be used to broaden breadth and depth of what we can teach
and learn and build together in a professional community made significantly larger by electronic
media. Indeed, itis a special thing. | count myself very privileged to have crossed paths with
you ~ however virtually. And | look forward to continued opportunities to learn from you and
your good work.
Again, thank you quite sincerely,
Cindy Jenni
