Being different doesn't mean you are less as a person. You have an equal right like any other people. It's just a matter of courage and determination to fight back and believe on who you are.

People get discriminated because of the ideas that they "they look different", "they aren't like us", "they don't believe what we believe, or for many other reasons. They get discriminated because they are of different race and culture especially for those living in America- the Latinos, Blacks and Asians. Watching the movie Freedom Writers it gives you the idea that racial discrimination and cultural diversity could be fought with the help of a brave soul. Idealistic determination Mrs. Gruwells to fight this issue of discrimination within her students greatly changed their lives. Also their outlook in life.
It takes a lot of courage, passion and determination for someone like Ms. Gruwell to take a leap to fight and change her students perception about the world. Even though many were against her idea because the administration thought that her students were unteachable, still she believed in them. Her fight was not easy. The bad idea of racial and cultural diversity was etched in her students mind. Most of them belonged to gangs to feel safe and protect their own kind. They were committed to their kin and hated other races. There was undeclared war between them.
