Start date of Fellowship: Feb June 2015 for 12 months
Counties Manukau District Health Board are inviting applications for a Burn Fellowship to join the Burn Team. The Fellowship has been in place since 2007 and is unique and sought after because it covers comprehensive care for both adult and paediatric patients, in the acute, rehabilitative and reconstructive phases of treatment.
There is also an opportunity to gain some experience in Plastic and Reconstructive surgery while on this Fellowship. We have around 5000 Elective procedures per year, complex breast reconstruction, Head /Neck and ENT reconstruction, Adult and Paediatric Cranial/facial/cleft reconstruction to name a few
The Burn Team cares for the most severe burn injuries from New Zealand and around the Pacific. Our Fellows are also exposed to critical care whilst working closely with our Intensive care team.
The Fellowship is based around the National Burn Centre (NBC) located within Middlemore Hospital. The NBC is a 10 bed a state of the art facility and forms the corner piece of the National Burn Service of New Zealand.
The Burn Team is part of the Plastic Surgery Department at Middlemore Hospital, one of the largest and most dynamic in the Southern Hemisphere with 16 plastic surgeons. The Department is accredited by the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons as a training site in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
Positions are offered on a fixed term 12-month basis but consideration may be given to shorter terms.
Registration with the New Zealand Medical Council is essential at commencement of employment.
