GPS Based Train Location Tracking System with SMS

Facility

GPS and GSM based Train Tracking System implements the emerging
applications of the GSM technology. Using GSM networks, online train
tracking system has been proposed that will act as an embedded system which
can monitor the exact train location at given time.
emotely the system allows the !ser to effectively locate train via the mobile
phone set !sing SMS service. "t will achieve by sending commands in the form
of SMS messages.
The main concept behind the pro#ect is to detecting c!rrent location of train
!sing latit!de and longit!de received from GPS and send it to remote location
on web server or texting on pre config!red mobile n!mber thro!gh GSM !sing
GPS service or SMS service. emote server receives c!rrent location of train
on fix time interval f!rther to !ser interface one GSM modem is attached to
server on serial port which has fix S"M n!mber thro!gh which !ser can receive
train location detail on his cell phone as reply when !ser send SMS re$!est for
partic!lar train location thro!gh his cell phone.
%e have selected a partic!lar GSM modem for o!r pro#ect. The messages are
sent from the GSM Modem that contains commands in written form which are
then processed accordingly to perform the re$!ired task. & microcontroller
based system has been proposed for o!r pro#ect. There are several terminologies
that are !sed extensively thro!gho!t this pro#ect.
GSM 'Global System for Mobile (omm!nications)* "t is a cell!lar
comm!nication standard. SMS 'Short Message Service)* "t is a service available
on most digital mobile phones that permit the sending of short messages 'also
known as text messaging service). GPS 'General packet radio service) is !se
to send data to remote server. GPS 'Global Positioning System) will gives
correct latit!de and longit!de for c!rrent location which it receives from
satellites.
