who are (oin( off duty share information
about your care with nurses comin( on

chan(es to make sure you (et hi(h.!uality
care.

a chance to meet the nurse takin( over
your care- ask !uestions and share
important information with your nurses.
Nurse bedside shift report does not
replace the conversations you have with
your doctor.
You can invite a family member or friend
to be part of the nurse bedside shift report.
"e will only talk about your health with
others when you say it is okay with you.
"hen is nurse bedside
shift report&
Nurse bedside shift report happens every
day between 7:00 a.m. and 7 and 7:/0
p.m. 0t usually lasts 1 minutes.
"hat should 0 e*pect&
2urin( nurse bedside shift report- the
nurses (oin( off and comin( on duty will:
0ntroduce themselves to you and anyone
with you. )he nurse comin( on duty
will write his or her name and phone
number on the white board in your
room.
0nvite you to take part in the nurse
bedside shift report. You should decide
who else can take part with you.
)alk with you about your health-
includin( the reason you are in the
hospital and what is (oin( on with your
care. )he nurses will look at your
medical chart.
,heck the medicines you are takin(.
)he nurses will look at your 03s-
in4uries- and banda(es. )hey will also
follow up on any tests that were done or
lab work that was ordered.
Ask you what could have (one better
durin( the last shift and what you hope
to do durin( the ne*t shift. 5or e*ample-

sleep. )he nurse will try to help you

after the bedside shift report to spend
