Any neonate who has received supplemental oxygen for 4 weeks, has developed BPD by definition.
Then classification..
Mild BPD: If after completion if 4 weeks, baby stable on room air.
Moderate BPD: If after completion of 4 weeks,baby still needs supplemental oxygen bw 21 to 30% conc.
Severe BPD: If after completion of 4 weeks, baby still needs either high o2 conc>30% or requires positive pressure
ventilation.
