1.

In the performance of the experiment, cite the possible sources of error and its effect in the computed
values. What are the recommendations then to minimize such error?

In this experiment some of the possible sources of error was the room temperature which affects the
computed value and the initial temperature reading since we are performing on an air conditioned
laboratory. Another error could come from the reading of the multi tester because the data we record
might be wrong since the reading of the tester was changing from time to time, this might cause errors in
getting the reading of the initial and final temperature of the aluminum and copper tubes.

2. Would the result be different if the condensed water was not drained from the expansion tube? Why?
Yes, the result will be different because the condensed water inside the tube would absorb the heat
produced by the steam and will contributes in the change in resistance of the thermistor while heating.
Since, there was no condensation inside the pipe, steam energy will not be subject to heat reduction and
might cause some error in the computation of the coefficient of linear expansion.
3. After performing the experiment, can you identify the different factors or component that may affect
the change in the dimension of a material?
The factors or components that are affecting the change in the dimension of materials are the initial
length of the body, coefficient of linear expansion, and the change in temperature. These factors are
directly proportional to the change in the dimension of a material. If these factors increase, the
change in dimension would also increase.
