Conceptual Design
This Urban Plaza redesign project is the entrance to a Seaside Promenade along
the Sea of Marmar. Its significant location provided the opportunity to create a
landmark plaza as well as a place for meeting and cultural identity. Monumental
stone sculptures were provided by the City as aesthetic and cultural elements. The
sculptures, were accompanied by large classical character lighting, the restoration of
a sculpture fountain into an interactive fountain, decorative paving, character shade
trees, various seating, and a large arbor / trellis with colorful vines. The redesigned
fountain provide active recreation and a draw for children and families, while the
overall plaza provides quiet areas for relaxation and passive recreation for the local
urban dwellers and visitors.
