Handwriting Focus o Use clear readable handwriting that fits into the required space on a postcard INDEPENDENT WRITING TASK TYPE OF TEXT MODELLED WRITING FOCUS Begin drafting a postcard from the planets using the planning worksheet Informative/ imaginative Collaborative joint construction: writing a postcard from a planet using the ideas and facts developed within the planning worksheet from the previous lesson Editing the first draft of a postcard from the planet Informative/ imaginative Joint construction: re reading the text written in the previous lesson and editing the text to make it more interesting. Highlight adjectives, compound and complex sentences and simple punctuation such as capitals, full stops and commas. Close attention should also be paid to the structure of the address and the need for capitals within it. Publishing: writing a final copy of the postcard on to a provided template

The postcard must include the following: - Clear concise simple and compound sentences - Use of adjectives to make the text interesting - Appropriate use of punctuation: capitals, full stops and comas - Written in the correct tense (Past tense) - Clear readable handwriting that fits into the required space. T will work closely with C and N ensuring an understanding. T assist in writing when necessary J will use Google Docs to draft and edit his postcard writing in the initial writing lessons.
