The model is used to demonstrate the principle of operation of governors. Three [4] Porter governor
of the most well known governors are supplied in the kit. The configuration of [5] Proell governor
the various governors can be changed. The centrifugal weights and the sleeve [6] Hartnell governor
weights can be varied. The different governors are fitted to a vertical shaft. The

governors are placed in motion using a hand crank via an angled drive. The
speed ranges are so selected that the speed can easily be measured by counting Drive transmission ratio: 1:4
the revolutions of the crank and using a stopwatch. The flywheel with its large Lifting speed, Porter governor: < 100rpm
mass makes it easier to maintain a constant speed. Lifting speed, Proell governor: < 100rpm
