Instructional Screencast Task Analysis/Content Outline and Script

Background Information: I attended a media workshop this past week. One of the workshops included a seminar on how to use ProQuest (SIRS Discoverer webfind and images) when planning lessons. First, I will deliver this information to the kindergarten through fifth grade teachers. This podcast will be designed for teachers. Later, I will begin presenting this program to third through fifth grade students. I will plan a podcast for students at a later date that will give details on how students can discover information for projects within this website.
Step Action on Screen Narration 1 Power point slide/music Huahine Under the Moonlight Micahel Torke Tutorial on How to Use SIRS Discoverer 2 Our school district which is www.telfairschools.org Hello and welcome to this video tutorial on how to use Sirs Discoverer. On the screen, you will see that we are at the county website page. 3 Our school district which is ww.telfairschools.org Go to the very top of the website labeled select a school. We will select Telfair County Elementary School. 4 Telfair County Elementary School appear. Go to the menu bar and select staff. 5 Telfair County Elementary Staff Directory will be displayed. The Telfair County Elementary School Staff Directory will appear on the screen. You will need to select the Galileo website. If you are using this website at home, you will need a password. The password is cheek (c h e e k). 6 The Galileo High School website will appear. Notice at the top of the page, you see Galileo High School. Go to the bottom right hand corner and select Galileo Kids (Grades k-5). 7 The Galileo Elementary website is on display. The SIRS program stands for Social Issues Research Discoverer. You have three different programs to choose from which are SIRS Discoverer, webfind, and images. We will go into the webfind section. 8 The screen will buffer for a few seconds saying here we go.
9 SIRS Discoverer will appear. At the top of the page, you see common core correlations. We will click on this icon. 10 The screen will read Georgia Performance Standards: English Language Arts and Reading. I will choose kindergarten and underneath, I will choose reading. This will allow us to narrow our search. 11 The screen will read Georgia Performance Standards: English Language Arts and Reading with kindergarten elements. I will click ELAKR1. I will narrow it down to the a element of this standard and we will click the arrow beside ELAKR1. 12 The screen will read Georgia Performance Standards: English Language Arts and Reading with kindergarten elements. You will see the elements under ELAKR1. We will click on the letter a. Then, click see resources. 13 The screen will read Georgia Performance Standards: English Language Arts and Reading. Down below will read fiction and other resources. Looking below ELAKR1a, you will see SIRS Discoverer and we will click on fiction. 14 Subject Tree Search will be the webpage. At the top of the page, we have how many articles, newspapers, magazines, reference, graphics, and webfind sites are about the subject of snakes. Below that are the reading levels such as general, easy reading is grades first through fourth, moderate are grades fifth through seventh. Also, at the bottom of the page, you may click on the number to get more pages with different information. Now, lets go back to the home page. 15 Sirs Discoverer home page Notice on the home page you see many more features like the ones on the right hand side about the database features. These database features contain biographies and I think skills tutor that concentrates on the different steps of writing.
