Resistance Of Different Temperatures

Lab Report Plan
How does changing the temperature affect the resistance of the wire?
Hypothesis: The higher the temperature the higher the resistance will be,
because the atom vibrates more, allowing it to block more electrons and not let it
travel.

Method:
1) Cut a 15cm wire
2) Connect the voltmeter and amp meter with the power supply bench
using wires and crocodile clips.
3) Set power pack to 2 Volts
4) Place The Wire Into A 10C Water For One Minute
5) Connect The Wire To The Circuit
6) Record data
7) Place The Wire Into A 20C Water For One Minute
8) Connect The Wire To The Circuit
9) Record data
10) Place The Wire Into A 40C Water For One Minute
11) Connect The Wire To The Circuit
12) Record data
13) Place The Wire Into A 60C Water For One Minute
14) Connect The Wire To The Circuit
15) Record data
16) Place The Wire Into A 70C Water For One Minute
17) Connect The Wire To The Circuit
18) Record data

Question: Whats the resistance of different temperature of wire?

Chart:
Variables Factor Description
Independent Temperature The Temperature will be
measured by the
thermometer, increased
by the hot plate and
lowered by the fridge.
Dependent Resistance The amount of resistance
would change, from the
temperature.
Fixed 1 Battery voltage The voltage should
remain the same for each
experiment.
Fixed 2 Wire type

The wire type should
remain the same for each
experiment.
Fixed 3 Equipment The equipment should
remain the same for each
experiment.

As it is shown, the higher the temperature, the higher the resistance is. This is caused
because, the higher the heat is, the more excited the atoms will be. If the atoms are
excited, they will vibrate and move, causing them to be able to block more passing
electrons. Causing the wire to have a greater resistance.
