The term Babu was originally one of respect, but became a derogatory term in the early 20th century and referred to those native Indians who were attempting to be more modern and westernized. Here we see a lawyer standing by a shrine where he has placed a fraudulent will. He is making an offering to the goddess Kali in the hope that she will assist him while he goes to court on a false pretense. The monstrous greedy hand of the Hindu priesthood is shown creeping out of the shrine ready to take the money that has been placed there by worshiper. The captions reads: " I will offer you two goats if I win this case".
