EDMU 525 Prezi of Science and Engineering Practices

Assignment Description

After reading about the eight science and engineering practices in A Framework for K-12 Science Education: Practices,
Crosscutting Concepts and Core Ideas that are part of the Next Generation Science Standards develop a presentation
using Prezi (a free cloud based presentation software tool) that introduces elementary school students to these
practices. Since the practices describe what scientists and engineers actually do as part of their work your intent with
the presentation is to explain what it takes for students to think like a scientist.
Your presentation should include the following content:
1. Identify each of the eight science and engineering practices
2. Use student friendly descriptors to explain each of the practices
3. Provide examples of classroom applications (what it would look like in the classroom if students were using
these practices)
Your presentation should adhere to the following design principles:
1. Organization- follows a logical sequence
2. Graphics- visually appealing graphics relevant to the content
3. Text- limited to key words and ideas
