Pretest:
What do you know about CareerConnect?
Nothing
Do you have a resume?
No, not yet
Have you ever had an interview
No. I had an informal one with my job but it was just me visiting the work place my friends mom
owns and she gave me a job.
Do you plan on going to college?
Yes, I am taking classes now while in HS. Im looking into a few different schools.
What career are you interested in?
Teaching
Do you have any mentors or role models?
Nope..other than my family

Post-Test
What did you learn about Career connect? I learned about the features on the site such as
connecting with a mentor, resume building, and the different lessons you can read over
involving career skills. I really enjoy this site because it provides a lot of information I did not
learn about in school.
Who is your mentor on career connect? Tell me about him or her
I have no chosen a mentor that I have connected with. We reviewed mentor stories and I have
read over some mentor stories myself however, I have not connected. I will probably try to do
that soon.
Is your resume started or complete? We worked on my resume in our lessons. I think it is pretty
much done aside from some editing. But I will be adding more as I get more professional things
to add.
Tell me what you learned about interview skills? I learned the appropriate dress attire and to
look professional. I also learned about the behaviors such as sitting up straight, and shaking
ones hand. I have had mock interviews before but we did not go over all the details like we did
here.
Have you applied to college yet? I am currently college seeking. I have gone to a ton of open
houses and college visits. Right now I am in the process of filling out applications.

Chapter V
RIDDLES IN THE DARK
When Bilbo opened his eyes, he wondered if he had; for
it was just as dark as with them

see nothing, and he could feel nothing except the stone
of the floor.
Very slowly he got up and groped about on all fours, ti
ll he touched the wall of the
tunnel; but neither up nor down it could he find anyt

goblins, no sign of dwarves. His head was swimming, and h

ring of cold metal lying on the floor of the tunnel.
It was a turning point in his career, but
he did not know it. He put the ring in his pocket almost
without thinking; certainly it did
not seem of any particular use at the moment. He did no
t go much further, but sat down
on the cold floor and gave himself up to complete mise

thought of himself frying bacon and eggs in his own kitch

inside that it was high time for some meal or other;
but that only made him miserabler.
He could not think what to do; nor could he think what
had happened; or why he had
been left behind; or why, if he had been left behind
, the goblins had not caught him; or
even why his head was so sore. The truth was he had been l

out of mind, in a very dark corner for a long while.
After some time he felt for his pipe. It was not broken
, and that was something. Then he
felt for his pouch, and there was some tobacco in it, and
that was something more.

Pretest Data Questions and Observations

What is self-advocacy?
It is basically when you are able to stand up for yourself. This may be something like
speaking for your needs to represent oneself.
Name a time you advocated for yourself at school?
I would say I advocate for myself a lot. One example would be my yearly IEP meeting.
I usually speak about my visual impairment and discuss my needs with the teachers.
Name a time you advocated for yourself at home?
I tell my mom whats up. Just kidding. Um I discuss with my mom things going on at
school and what would help me best in the house.
Observation Notes:
9//314
Mikhail was observed in the regular classroom (algebra). He followed his IEP
accommodations by sitting upfront.
Mikhail asked to move closer to the board or if the teacher could write a bit
bigger.
Observation Notes:
9/8/2014
Mikhail asked if the teacher could read slower while reading braille along during a
lesson.
Post-test Questions and Observations
Name 3 situations you advocated for yourself at school
1. Discussed my needs at the IEP meeting
2. Asked to move closer to the board during English class when the notes were to
small to copy

3. I asked for digital materials because my IEP goal is provide when asked.
Name 3 situations you advocated for yourself at home
1. I told my friends I needed to make the screen larger for a video game we were
playing.
2. I asked for assistance on reading print on a menu at the drive through
3. I asked my mom to help me read the words on this worksheet because it was super
messy and small.
