A. The state of being subject only to laws established for the good of the
community, especially with regard to freedom of action and speech.

A. First 10 Amendments

A. Freedom of Speech, Religion, Petition, Assembly, and Press

A. Cant establish any laws again religion
43. What is the Free Exercise Clause?
A. Pertains to the right to freely exercise one's religion. It states that the
government shall make no law prohibiting the free exercise of religion.

A. Non-verbal expression

a. Pure speech and symbolic speech- Pure speech comes out of your mouth.
Symbolic speech are actions that place of pure speech.
b. Clear and present danger- The court that interrupters anything you want to,
nothing that would cause fear or fighting people.
c. Libel and slander- Libel is printing something that is not true. Slander is bad
mouthing something or someone.

Prior restraint- judicial suppression of material that would be published or
broadcast, on the grounds that it is libelous or harmful. In US law, the First Amendment
severely limits the ability of the government to do this.

A. Right to bear arms.

a. What is a warrant? A Written document that gives law enforcement
permission to search your property.
b. What is probable cause? A probable cause is a reason for getting pulled over
or get in trouble.
c. How is New Jersey v. T.L.O. related to warrants and probable cause? Minors
dont have the same rights
d. What is the exclusionary rule?

a. What is due process? They have to follow a system and have to have enough
proof to prove you guilty.
b. What is double jeopardy? Cant be changed in for the same thing twice

What is eminent domain? The right of a government or its agent to expropriate
private property for public use, with payment of compensation.
d. What was the case of Miranda v. Arizona? What are the Miranda Rights?
Miranda rights. They are your rights when you get arrested.

a. Gideon v. Wainwright has the right to have a lawyer
b. Roe v. Wade have the right to choose on abortion
50. What is incorporation? What amendment to the Constitution is used to incorporate
others? If you have property in the city then they pay you off.
51. What are civil rights? The rights of citizens to political and social freedom and
equality.

53. Describe the significance of the following Supreme Court cases:
a. Plessey v. Ferguson Separate but equal
b. Brown v. Board of Education Separation is not equal
54. Describe the significance of the following laws:
a. Civil Rights Act of 1964 expanded voting, and employment right
b. Voting Rights Act of 1965 expanded voting rights
