BSHS CAREER PATHWAYS

In an ever-changing world, it is hard to know exactly how to prepare for the road after high school. In addition to the rigorous
college preparation course offered at Bryan Station High School, there is also a focus on career readiness. Students can choose
career pathways to help them prepare for the after high school road of their choice. Bryan Station has chosen classes to prepare
students who may be interested in exploring a particular avenue or career these choices range from Culinary Arts to JROTC. It is
true that students are not bound to a certain career by choosing a particular pathway; however, these opportunities make it easier to
merge onto the road after graduation.

The Accounting career pathway is for students interested in planning and services in financing and
investments, banking, insurance, and business financial management.
The Administrative Support pathway is for students interested in planning, organizing, directing and
evaluating business functions essential to efficient and productive business operations.
The Advanced Manufacturing career pathway is available for students interested in technology and
manufacturing. Students will explore technology from a building and creating point of view. As students
move forward in this pathway, Toyota has established a partnership with Bryan Station to allow real-world
manufacturing experiences.
This career pathway is for students interested in various aspects of aviation including working on actual
planes and engines, spending time on a flight simulator, design of an actual remote control aircraft wing, etc.
Upon finishing the second year of ground school students can begin basic flight training in year three.
AFJROTC is an elective program offering students the chance to become a better citizen and a selfconfident, self-reliant and self-disciplined leader. Students explore the civilian, industrial and military
aspects of aerospace. Activities for cadets include: color guard team, drill team, field trips around the United
States, flights aboard military aircraft, community service projects, opportunities for attending ROTC college
days, formal social events and dances, summer leadership encampments, model rocketry club, public
speaking events in middle and elementary schools, etc.
The Allied Health pathway is oriented toward students with a desire to pursue a career in an allied health
care field and is geared to allow the student to study the role of the chosen career and to gain experience in
that health care setting.
This pathway will give students the skills needed for managing a business that involves the selection and
supervision of employees including efficient use of time, personnel, facilities, and financial resources.
Students will explore forms of business ownership; typical business organizational structure; product or
service promotion in business; effective communications; human relations skills required in dealing with
employees; and effective management strategies used in personnel, finance, production, marketing, and
information processing.
Basic life skills, adolescent development, selections of care and clothing, consumer spending, housing
choices, challenges of child rearing, and guidance in establishing relationships are all areas of focus for the
students who choose to participate in the Consumer and Family Management Pathway. Students who follow
this pathway are preparing themselves for many career choices in the family-care field after high school.
Culinary and Food Services pathway is for students who aspire to work in the food industry and will prepare
students in food production and services.
This career pathway is for students interested in careers associated with child development, child guidance,
childrens health and well-being, value of play, teaching strategies and management, and curriculum
development. The subject content is reinforced with work experience in a variety of childcare settings.
The Engineering and Technical Design pathway is for students interested in any of the engineering
disciplines: mechanical, electrical, architectural, robotic, etc. and will study and design various projects
utilizing their engineering skills.
A pathway focusing on Fashion and Interior Design is for students who wish to pursue a career in the
exciting and glamorous world of the clothing industry or the area of interior design. Students will study
fashion and or design related to social, economic, and media influence; and will be able to apply knowledge
of design principles to their own performance -based activities.
The Medical Science pathway is oriented toward students with a desire to pursue a career in an allied health
care field and is geared to allow the student to study the role of the chosen career and to gain experience in
that health care setting.
The Sports Marketing career pathway is designed to develop a thorough understanding of the marketing
concepts and theories that apply to sports and events. It is based on the business and marketing core that
includes communication skills, distribution, marketing-information management, pricing, product/service
management, promotion, selling, operations, strategic management, human resource management, and the
economic impact and considerations involved in the sports and event marketing industries.
(15-16) Theatrical Technologies will include a 4-year series of classes that will provide students with a
hands on experience in both elementary and advanced knowledge in the four major areas of theatrical design
and construction (Set Design and Construction, Costume/Props Design, Lighting Design, and Audio
Design).

The Web Development pathway is for students interested in building linkages in IT occupations for entry
level, technical, and professional careers related to the design, development, support and management of
hardware, software, multi-media and systems integration services.
