Significant Concept: Form Organizing and managing the data for a
long time
Unit Question: How can I create a secure system to store and
integrate information?
1) How well do I think I did in all of the stages (investigation, design, plan, create)?
Investigation Stage: I think I did quite a good job for the investigation stage as I put in
quite a lot of effort and did a lot of research on databases. Furthermore, I did all the
necessary items required in the report and hence I hope I get good grades for the
report.
Design Stage: I found this stage quite hard as I had to think of three different designs
and ended up with three for different type of markets. I expected to finish it faster than I
actually did however I feel like I did a good job and put in a lot of effort in getting it
right.
Plan Stage: This report was not as good as I hoped it would be. I felt it was incomplete
and not as good enough as I could have made it. I could have put in a bit more effort
however other assessments were piling up so I did not have a lot of time.
Create Stage: This stage was more fun than I thought it would be. Making the database
was a fun experience and I enjoyed it. The report for this stage was different and shorter
than the one I did for last quarter were I wrote down every step with screenshots. In this
step, I wrote down the main steps thus a smaller report. Its about quality not quantity,
and I think the quality of the report is better than the one I did last unit.
2) What could I have done to improve them?
Investigation Stage: I could have added a bit more research topics to understand
Access better. I feel that I could have done a tad bit better job however at the same
time I put in as much as effort as I could into the report.
Design Stage: I could have made better designs to improve the report and could have
explained them better. I also feel that I should have explained why I chose the design I
chose better.
Plan Stage: I feel that I could improve a lot with this stage as the plan stage I made was
not as great as it could be. The action plan was short and brief. I could add a bit more

but I was not sure of what to add since Ive never done a database before hence
resulting in a small action plan.
Create Stage: I dont think I could have improved anything except maybe the
database as it is the first time Ive used it and am unsure of whether the product is good
or not.
Overall: I know I could have used better time management skills since the creation
stage was almost last minute as I got Access a few days before the deadline.
3) How could I have improved the product while making it easy to operate?
I think the product is easy to operate if the basics are understood well which I have
explained in the creation report. I believe my product is fine the way it is.
4) How did I use my IB Learner Profiles throughout the whole task?
Inquirer: I used this learner profile a lot throughout the whole unit since it was the first
time I was learning about databases and had no idea what it was or how they were
made. I asked many questions to the teacher so I could understand the software
properly.
Knowledgeable: I am knowledgeable as I have learnt a lot about databases and can
now share it with other people.
Communicator: I helped my peers since I picked up on the database faster than a lot
of my classmates despite the short time I had to use it.
5) How much effort did I put into the task?
As answered in the first question, for some of the stages I think I couldve put in more
effort whereas for some I put as much as I could.
6) Could I have put in more effort for a better outcome for this unit?
Maybe. Since the plan stage is the only stage I am unsure of how well I couldve done
it, it is the only stage in question for whether this unit could have had a better outcome
or not.
7) What were my strengths/ abilities while working on this unit?
I picked up on how to use the database really fast.
8) What were my weaknesses during the task?
I did not manage my time as I had planned which caused minor problem. And I want
to improve on it more.

9) How did I use my weaknesses from the previous quarters and units to improve
myself in this quarter?
In the last unit, I got distracted a lot which did not occur for this unit. Therefore, I think I
improved on one of my weaknesses. Nevertheless, the aspect of time management is
still an accomplishment I havent achieved.
10) How can I use my strengths and weaknesses to perform better the next quarter?
I can use my ability to learn how to use a new software fast for the next unit which may
require a different software to be used and I can learn it fast and have more time to
complete the product rather than taking a lot of time to learn how to use the software
and having little time to complete the product.
My weakness is still poor time management which I have been working for every unit.
Although I feel that my time management has improved slightly compared to the
previous unit.
