HSSL Procedure (VP-29)

Purpose:

To provide a HSSL procedure when


replacing the 68K CPU PCB, when
replacing the battery on the 68K CPU
PCB or when a Bad checksum in
non-volatile RAM error displays on
the screen.

Prerequisite

1. Analyzer and the data


station powered on.

Note: If the 68K CPU PCB


or battery on the 68K
CPU PCB has been
replaced a Bad
checksum in nonvolatile RAM
message may appear
on the Bulletin Line.
Preparation

1. Insert the appropriate


service disk into the
floppy drive.
2. From the MAIN menu,
press F12 followed by
F8 to exit to the DOS
prompt.

Enter
Commands

1. Type A: and press


Enter. The prompt will
change to A:>.
2. Type HSSLCOM and
press Enter. The HSSL
Communications
screen will appear.

3. Type one of the


following:
For a S/L system type
0KS (numeric zero,
upper case K, upper
case S) and press
Enter. See Figure 1.

For a C/S system, type


0KC (numeric zero,
upper case K, upper
case C) and press
Enter. See Figure 2.
4. Type 0K (numeric zero,
upper case K) and press
Enter. The response
should be SKS (see
Figure 3) for a S/L
system or SKC (see
Figure 4) for a C/S
system.

Verification
Procedure

1. Power off both the


analyzer and the data
station.
2. Remove the service disk
from the floppy drive.
3. Power on the analyzer.
4. Power on the data
station. Ensure the
instrument is Initialized
and the heading in the
Status box indicates the
proper instrument
model, CS or SL.
