1.0Introduction

Our team worked together to complete a customer needs assessment using Survey Monkey and
Facebook, as well as in person interviews to gather data onwhatpeoplelookforinconnectivity
in our cars. Then an extensive external search involving patent searches, product dissection,
literature searches, and benchmarking was conducted. All of the data we collected was used
duringtheconceptgenerationstepinwhichwecollectivelythoughtofideasforourdesign.After
carefullynarrowingdownalonglistofideas,itwasfinallytimetodevelopthefinaldesignusing
this document as a design tool. The proceeding document describes the method and results of
eachofthesestepsofthedesignprocessinorder.

1.1InitialProblemStatement
Delphi, a cartechnologycompany,taskedourdesignteamwithcreatingatechnologythatwould
make cars safer, greener, and more connected. If we made a safer technology, our goal was to
help make zero fatalities, zero injuries, and zero accidents a reality. If we created greener
technology, we had to focus on zero emissions and zero waste. If we made more connected
technology,wehadtofocusonseamlessconnectivitywhileinthevehicle.

2.3Survey
To understand what customers were comfortable with using and what they would like to use
while in their vehicle the team created a survey. This survey gauged not only what apps people
would most like to use in theircar, butalsofactorssuchashowoftenpeopledrive, theirageand
how comfortable they would be interfacing with a voice command system. The survey showed
us that people were not overly familiar with voice control, but they would only find a system

6.0Conclusion

Our project was successful. We were able to create an integrated voice command system with
exciting new features. The app is simple to use. Thesystemisconnected, easytouse, andhelps
keep drivers and passengers safe. All these features guarantee that the system successfully met
customer needs, and meeting customer needs ensures that the product will be successful in the
market. One truly unique aspect of our system is the ability of our system to incorporate new
apps and allow them to be commandedbyvoice.Thisprovidesextraconnectivity.Thesystemis
more expensive than similar systems, but its extra features and more connected design makeup
forthispricedifference.
