On Sunday 7th December, our Year 3 footballers took part in the Trans World Soccer League Finals

Tournament held at Rashid School for boys. The boys performed exceptionally well managing to beat
Jebel Ali Primary School in our first game, after going down 1-0 early in the first half. The final score was
2-1 with Omar and Hani both scoring a goal.
We played Jumeirah Primary School (JPS) in the final which was another thrilling match. Again we
allowed JPS to take the lead during the first half and we left it late in the second half to secure an
equalizer, which took the match to penalties (best out of 3). It was nail biting to watch but we managed
to win beating JPS 2-1 on penalties. Karim (our goalkeeper) saved 2 goals and Hani and Victor managed
to score 2.
Our superb Year 3 tournament champions were: Victor, Hani, Omar, Elliot, Yousef, Karim, Angelo,
Byunghoon and Moatasem.

On Monday, the Year 4 boys maintained their outstanding season of matches. In their first game of the
afternoon (against Horizon International School) the GWPS team played with great endeavor, taking
their chances to win 2-1 and advance to the final against Rashid School for Boys. GWPS took control of
the final game and enjoyed a number of shots on goal unfortunately, only one of which found its way
into the net. RSB capitalized on their only goal scoring opportunity (from a free kick) to tie the game, 11 at full time. Despite being the better team on the day, GWPS lost 2-1 on penalties. Regardless, the
boys deserve a huge amount of praise for their brilliant season well done!

It was the turn of the Year 6 team to participate in their end of season football final. Our first opposition
was Emirates International School (EIS). From the outset EIS looked organised and determined to make
this a difficult game. We had a few chances but EIS managed to score on each counter attack. Our boys
tried hard but EIS were very controlled in their play and beat us with a convincing 7-1 win.
The second game was against Wellington Silicone Oasis (WSO). The Year 6 team played with more
composure during this game, with Karim scoring a goal in the first half. WSO managed to equalise early
in the second half which meant the match would have to be decided on penalties (best of 3). Karim,
Paolo and Valdemar were chosen to step forward to take a penalty with Ashley our goalkeeper
attempting to save WSOs attempts. Fortunately Ashley saved 2 of their efforts allowing us a victory of
2-1 on penalties.
The Year 6 team were; Karim, Ronald, Khalid, Eissa, Pablo, Paolo, Harry, Valdemar and Ashley.

Wednesday afternoon saw the conclusion of the football finals involving the year 5 football team. The
boys finished in 4th position in the Northern league. In our group were Rashid Boys School, Horizon
International and Dubai British School. Our first game was against Rashid Boys School, it was an
entertaining end to end match but no goals were scored in regulation play. This meant another match
was to be decided by penalties. Luka made an excellent save from their first attempt which was followed
up by an excellent penalty by Arda. Karam then scored a fantastic penalty and Rashid missed on their
second attempt so we went through to the final 2-1. The final was against a very talented DBS team and
the boys played exceptionally well. We had our chances in the second half after going down 1-0 early in
the first half. Arda hit the post which turned out to be our best chance of the match. The final score was
1-0 but it was an excellent display of determination by the entire squad.
