The Legislative
The legislative branch was created in the first article of the United States Constitution
and in it are the House of Representatives, and the Senate.
Both the House of Representatives and the Senate form Congress. Congress has the
power to declare war and enact on legislation according to the first article of the Constitution.
Article one also gives the right to congress to confirm or deny any presidential
appointments and the powers of substantial investigation.
The House of Representatives has over 400 members based along 50 states. The House of
Representatives gain their members based on the population of the state that the members
represent. For example, California has more representatives than the state of Maine.
The members must be twenty-five years old to be a member; also they must be a United
States citizen for at least seven years, and lastly be living in the state you are representing.
The Senate has exactly one-hundred senators with two senators from each state. Senators
are chosen by state legislators instead of popular vote.

Every two years, one-third of the senate goes up for re-election because they have a six
year term. The members of the Senate must be thirty years old to become a member; also they
must be a United States citizen for at least nine years and live in the state they represent.
In order for the legislation to go to the president, Congress, or the House of
Representatives and Senate, must agree to pass the bill.
Once the bill is sent the president cant veto it or sign it. If the bill if vetoed, Congress
can override the veto with a two-thirds vote in favor of keeping the bill and passing it.
