We Protect Our Environment

None of our products contain mercury, a poisonous
element that is often used in switches.
Airport Lighting Company is committed to the

conservation and preservation of our natural
resources. Everyone here thinks green.
Our buildings are highly efficient. Upgraded super

insulated surfaces and state-of-the art heating and
cooling systems have been installed. Automatic
control devices, including motion sensors, regulate
and save electricity. Super efficient glass windows
conserve energy and many open to decrease
our dependence on air conditioning. Solar
radiation infiltration is prevented when not
beneficial and allowed when it is useful.
Some processes which emit excess heat
are contained internally during the
winter; they are isolated outdoors in
the summer.
Recycled products are used extensively. The page

you are now reading is recycled paper.
ALC products are packaged in conserving ways.
All packaging materials are recyclable. Shipping
containers are designed to protect the product
with the least consumptive use of material.
Some containers begin their life as parts bins
during the manufacturing process. Many
other cartons that first contain incoming
components are designed to have
a second life as shipping cartons
for our finished products.
Both
these applications decrease the
consumption of our natural resources
by 50%. Then, having been used twice,
the cartons are recyclable. We carefully
select packaging materials and
their
specific application. Synthetic peanuts, even
though recyclable, are never used in shipments to
construction sites since they may be blown away
and become litter rather than recycled material.
Weve planted trees and shrubs

to beautify the property, remove
carbon and promote a healthful
environment.
Despite the harsh winter climate of central
New York, we keep our driving and parking spaces
clear of ice and snow through the use of black
surfaces that aid in solar absorption. Chemical aids
are used only in severe conditions and then very
sparingly.
Our newer products, like our LED powered lights

consume much less energy.
From office paper to aluminum foil seals from coffee

cans, we recycle. Mugs have replaced disposable
cups. Sugar and condiments are purchased in
bulk, eliminating paper and plastic wrappers from
individual servings. Disposable lunch utensils have
given way to reusable ones. Little things, perhaps,
but indicative of our recycling and conservation
mentality. We invite you to join us in our efforts.
Our fixtures are powder coated rather than

painted, which totally eliminates the emission
of hazardous solvents and provides a more
durable finish. In addition, powder coating is
free of heavy metals which would otherwise
become part of the waste stream. Powder
coated finishes also meet ROHS requirements.

AGM Signs
For those seeking a truly modular sign, or
preferring to maintain a uniform look where
rounded airfield signage is already installed,
Airport Lighting Company offers the patented
AGM D-Lux. The D-Lux is a formidable upgrade from standard
curved signs. The appearance may be familiar, but the high
quality and thoughtful engineering is refreshingly new.
Each module of a D-Lux sign is mounted on an evenly spaced pair

of legs. The D-Lux slip-flanges hold the legs secure with almost
no gap in the assembly. Environmental forces are shared by the
legs and cabinet, and not concentrated on the hardware.
On a D-Lux, each rounded face is made from expertly formed
acrylic. Size 1 and 2 signs have available the optional Herculens
panel, which is CNC machined from 3/8 thick acrylic and is
factory installed on our Size 3 D-Lux. This allows our Size 3 D-Lux
to shed jet blast without the use of internal bracing or other
cabinet upgrades.
AGMs I-Lux signs solidly and seamlessly

integrate off-the-shelf parts and custom
fabrication for strength and flexibility while
minimizing operating costs.
The platform for the I-Lux is a cabinet machined from solid, heavy
gage aluminum extrusion. Monolithic tops and bottoms are
impervious to blowing rains, dirt, and snow because they are free
of the gaps found in signs of modular construction.
Connecting the legend panels on the D-Lux are translucent

panel joints, which are welded together with adhesive and then
additionally reinforced with stainless steel hardware.
The I-Lux is inherently stronger than modular signs because

it doesnt rely on the strength of the hardware used to piece
modular signs together. Additionally, the I-Lux is as short as
possible because it is made per FAA lettering specifications and
not artificially lengthened over seams and gaps like signs of
modular construction.
Every D-Lux module features a top that is designed to easily

guide the top edge of panels into place when it is replaced after
re-lamping, and is fixed to the sign with two turn fasteners. No
tools are required for re-lamping, and the D-Lux uses familiar
and inexpensive 6.6A 45W lamps, either quartz or incandescent.
Configurations using miniature 12v 20w lamps are also available.
A shorter I-Lux makes installation quicker and less expensive.

It can be up to 50% shorter than modular signs, it doesnt require
as much excavation or concrete, and it stands on fewer legs.
The D-Lux base model brightness controls use familiar technology

that has been proven for years in the field. The D-Lux also offers
AGMs optional Style U power control system - a passive, noninductive design that exhibits near-unity power factors on all
regulator steps.
The I-Lux is a smaller obstruction in the field than modular signs,

presenting less inertial load on an aircraft should a collision occur.
The seamless panels of the I-Lux display messages without
distortion. They are free of the gaps and joints that weaken
modular signs and allow penetration by wind, rain, dirt and snow.
Bright and clear, I-Lux panels are highly impact resistant, up to 30
times more than other brands.
The Herculens is the most durable sign panel

on the market today. It comes factory installed
in AGMs patented Size 3 D-Lux brand rounded
signs. More than 50% thicker than other panels,
it is CNC-machined and expertly formed for a
solid fit. The Herculens is unyielding to jet blast, even when used
without internal bracing or other cabinet modifications.
Bringing light to the I-Lux are commercial off-the-shelf MR16

lamps. Changing the lamp is easy with no tools required the
cabinet stays closed up tight. Lamp life is approximately 10,000
hours that makes over 2 years at 12 hours a day - so they wont
be replaced often.
If you have Size 3 Lumacurve signs that were manufactured

between 1991 and 2005, the best and easiest way to make them
meet FAA performance specifications is to replace the OEM
panels with Herculens panels by AGM. Testing performed or
witnessed by Intertek, an FAA 3rd Party Certifier, confirms that,
without the superior Herculens panels installed, the design used
between these dates in the manufacturing of Size 3 Lumacurve
signs will not meet FAA specs.
When new lamps are needed, replacements are as close as the

nearest hardware store. Airports arent stuck with expensive
proprietary lamp replacements.
The base model brightness controls use technology that has
been proven for years in the field. Better, the I-Lux also offers
AGMs optional Style U power control system - a passive, noninductive design that exhibits near-unity power factors on all
regulator steps.
Of course, the AGM Herculens panel works brilliantly in Size 3

Lumacurve signs manufactured after these dates, too.
Drawing on its strength as a truly rigid curve, the Herculens has
already been demonstrated to and won the approval of, among
others, the Massachusetts Port Authority, Los Angeles World
Airports, and the Dallas/Fort Worth Department of Aviation.
Tried and true, the I-Lux is the solid and sensible choice for
hassle-free longevity.
The use of Herculens panels to upgrade Size 1, 2 and 3 Lumacurve

signs has been approved for AIP funding.
