My Philosophy on using Technology in Education2

According to Business Dictionary.com (2014) Technology is the purposeful application of

information in the design, production, and utilization of goods and services, and in the
organization of human activities. Living in what is considered to be a technologically advanced
society that is always moving forward, we will recognise that the traditional method of teacher
student interaction is changing. Not only so but there is a push to move from teacher centred
learning to amore student centred, as such I believe that educators need to expand and crate a
wide range of meaningful technological opportunity in which students can be educated.
Education according to Marcus Garvey is the driving force of change, catalyst of
development and a driving force of growth. It is said that leaning is a noticeable change in ones
behaviour and that being the case; it is education that sparks the recognisable differences.
Technology is the application of knowledge that is used to create tools and machinery
which are then used to assist human beings in their everyday proceedings (Science
Education.com 2014), therefore, I believe that education technology are those technological
systems that have been programmed to help learners inside and outside of the classroom. Using
technology in the classroom will also be vital to digital natives - those who are born in a
technological time and also help those digital immigrants - those who are just learning to use
technology. Education technology will also allow schools to become boundary-less to
information allowing the possible for learning.
I believe that the goal for using technology in education is to help develop a fully develop
student who is able to transition holistically into a technologically society being ready for the
challenges ahead. It can be noted that a student may not grasp every concept easily but they will
be equipped with the basic knowledge, scaffolding and assimilation can then take place so as to
broaden the individuals horizon which is the true purpose of education.

Technology is interactive so it is easy to use in the planning and preparation of lessons.

This is seen in sing along cartoons, read along books, talking ABC computers and many other
authentic and generic manifestation of technology driven software.
Learners can be assessed by doing online quizzes as well as teachers can provide learners
with information and then have them research and investigating other means of reinventing or
remodelling already formed concepts as well as creating new owns for themselves.
