great time to try something new, so have fun!! Sherri
Things you will need
Fabric, instead of yardage you will be given cutting instructions. ***
Fusible web ( wonder under, misty fuse, ect.)
pencil
scissors
ruler
applique pressing sheet (optional, but makes this easier to do)
***Choosing your fabric: The fabrics you choose should be a small print, a small
plaid, or a solid fabric. No Large Prints. It's best to use 2 different patterns of the
same color for each flower, or use two colors on one flower, such as yellow and
orange. There will be 12 flowers no larger than 3 inches.
Cutting instructions
1- 18X 18 square Back ground piece. (This should be a light color such as
yellow, cream, or light Green.)
4- 5squares- The squares should compliment the background piece.
Scraps in spring colors for flowers
of a fat quarter of leaf green. (lighter in color)
of a fat quarter of stem green.(darker in color)

80 of binding, (I've allowed plenty here)

Spring Table Topper: Part 2

Step 1. Take your 4, 5 squares and mark a diagonal line on them.
Step 2. Place them on the corners of the 18 square, right sides together. Sew on
the line of each corner piece. Trim away from the sewing line and press
toward the corner. (see diagram A)

Step 3. Use the pattern to trace the petals of the flower onto the fusible web,
( f-1,f-2, f-3 and f-4) I have allowed extra to fit under f-11. When your done with
your petals, label them and fuse to the color of fabric you desire for the flowers.
You should have f-1, f-2, f-3,and f-4 drawn on your fusible web 12 times. Fuse
according to the directions on your fusible.
For the leaves and stems use the same procedure.
From the lighter green you will need 4 of L-1
8 of L-3
8 of L-2.
From the darker green you will need 4 of S-1 and 8 of S-2.
The stems can be stacked side by side when you draw them on the fusible. I use
my ruler too. Fuse to the fabric.
Step 4. Cut out your pieces . This is a good project to do while watching TV. :)
Step 5. Next is where the pressing sheet comes in handy. I lay the patterns down
on the ironing board, then the pressing sheet, then I lay the pieces down using the
pattern as my guide for the placement and press. Place the leaves first, then the
stems, press. Next place the flower petals using the placement guide on your
pattern, press. On the 18 square, place leaves, stems and flowers at 9, 11 and
7, and press. I use a ruler, always measuring from the right. Use diagram B for
placement on the 18 square. Repeat on all 4 sides.
Step 6. Finish around the edges of the flowers with a satin stitch, buttonhole stitch
or a finish to your choosing. Quilt, and bind and enjoy your spring table topper.
