Your best defence...

Be clear about what is being asked and expected
Give yourself lots of lead time
Start your research early...

avoid last minute

crunches

Develop a comprehensive note-making strategy,

which includes tracking your references

Tuesday, 30 September, 14

Your best defence... contd

Avoid electronic note-making and copy and
paste... go low tech!

Create your Works Consulted as you go...

it is

part of the research process after all

Write a first draft, and submit it to Turnitin (well

talk more about this next day youre here)

Have your paper proof read by someone else

before final submission
Tuesday, 30 September, 14

Your best defence... contd

Ask for help along the way... either from your
classroom teacher or from your friendly
Teacher Librarian (that would be me!)

Make use of all available resources, most

pointedly the TDSB Student Research Guide
(available via the ESA Virtual Library... see the
Library bookmark for the password)
