Site Suitability Analysis for a Planned Unit Development in Florence, AL (Fall 2012)

Created a set of suitability values for a New Urbanism PUD based on spatial data
Used Spatial Analyst tools to create a weighted overlay of suitability values
Created Zonal Statistics using land parcels as zones

Measuring Spatial Characteristics of New Urbanism Communities in the US with GeoSpatial Technology: critics, measurement and implications. (2012-2013)
Received Undergraduate Research Program (URP) grant from the University of
North Alabama to fund a nine month research project on New Urbanism
Created a geodatabase of New Urbanism developments in the contiguous U.S.
Developed and applied a rating system, using spatial techniques, to each community
based on locational sustainability, land use diversity, and transportation
sustainability
Results to be presented at the Association of American Geographers Annual Meeting
in Los Angeles, CA.
Evaluation and Comparison of New Urban Communities in the Southeast (November 2012)
Research poster presented at the Huntsville Geospatial Conference 2012, Huntsville,
AL, placed 3rd in poster competition
Used spatial analysis to evaluate and compare New Urbanism developments in the
states of Alabama, Georgia, and Florida

Produced campus accessibility map for UNA using ArcGIS

Business Site Selection for Score Plus Academics (Spring 2012)


Used ESRI ArcGIS Business Analyst software to help a local business owner make a
decision on where to open a new location for his business
Geocoded addresses from a Microsoft Excel file of current customers
Gathered demographic information about the census block groups in which the
current customers lived and looked for areas with similar demographics.
Explored opportunities in cities and towns in Alabama, Mississippi, and Tennessee
