Dear Members:
As the holiday season approaches, this is the time of year for food, food AND MORE FOOD. And in keeping with our
long honored Nordic tradition of eating, getting together with friends and families and more eating, lets not waste any
more time and start eating. I mean reading. So here we go
Leif Erikson Day Picnic it was great to get together with our fellow Scandinavians at our Leif Erikson Day Family Picnic. This was a joint effort between the Young Scandinavians Club, the Scandinavian School, The Icelandic Association
and the Norwegian Club and a first for including the Scandinavians in our annual park celebration. Much thanks to Peter
Nordstrom, President of the YSC and Lisa Sig Olesen of the Scandinavian School for all of their help in organizing the
event. It was a terrific day, punctuated by BBQs, swimming, bouncy houses and our sword bearing friends the Dark Boar
Vikings. (Dark Boar!) And Id be remiss not to give hearty nordic shout out (skaal!) to our team serving in the kitchen,
including Troy Acevedo, Ron Tunheim, the Nordstrom family and Sara & Dave Skokan. Your help was much appreciated!
And now in more food news Smorgasbord. A food orgy. And lots of it. Our October club meeting included heaping
tables full of an amazing assortment of Scandinavian delicacies topped off at the end with Debbies fantastic Christmas
cookies and Ruth Raffelos delicious Kransekake. A truly decadent feast and the start of a long season of eating, eating
and more eating. Thanks to Debbie for organizing this event and all the tireless chefs who got us off to such a delicious
start. This was also our new member initiation night, and it was a pleasure to welcome so many great new members into
our lodge family. Heres to sharing many more meals with you!
And mark your calendars: Hope to see you at our annual election of the 2015 officers to be held Sunday November 23rd
at our newly renovated meeting place on Brotherhood Way. In keeping with the holiday season of eating, this event also
includes a pre-Thanksgiving Thanksgiving feast (turkey dinner with all the trimmings!) We strongly urge all members to
attend. This is your chance to make your vote count and give us your input and suggestions for the upcoming year. More
importantly, were also looking for great members to fill the various committees which help keep our lodge thriving and
growing, so if you want to take a greater part in our lodge activities please be sure to attend!
And finally, hope to see many of you on the afternoon of Saturday, December 6th for our annual Kings Mountain Family
Christmas Party this is an event not to be missed. Think caroling around the Christmas tree, a visit from Santa and his
elves, musical entertainment and some wonderful traditional Christmas food and cookies. In this day and age of digital
mania we are truly blessed to have this little mountain sanctuary where we can have an authentic and old fashioned
yuletide celebration. Its a warm, wonderful event and a perfect way to kick start your holiday season. Hope to see you
there!

Happy Holidays from Henrik Ibsen Park

Another year is coming to an end so it is time to wish all members of Henrik Ibsen Lodge and
their families Happy Holidays and best wishes for the New Year. It is also time to thank the Henrik Ibsen Park Board of Directors for another year of hard work. Thank you Maren Collins, Len
Jacobson, Laurie Mittelstadt, Dave Tensfeldt, JoAnn Senander, Troy Acevedo, Jack Simensen,
and Jeff Fleming for all of your hard work. I know that you all love our park and I appreciate all
that you do to keep the park operating!
I have good news, and a little bad news, at least for the Park Board of Directors. The good news
is that this year we have three new cabin owners in the park, Jeff and Vicky Fleming, Dave and
Sarah Skokan, and Marty Ronneberg and last year we had one new owner, Eric Soult. Welcome
to Henrik Ibsen Park! New residents contribute new energy and ideas to the park community.
The bad news is that Jeff Fleming held a board position allocated to a non-cabin owner so upon
the purchase of his cabin he has stepped down from the board. No worries though, Park Board
elections are just around the corner at our Annual Meeting to be held on February 27, 2015 at the
Brotherhood Way facility immediately after the February lodge meeting. Interested in serving on

Henrik Ibsen Park is thriving and getting better every year. We appreciate the support of the
lodge and hope that all lodge members take advantage of our unique and beautiful facility in
2015!
