P5-7 Class : Term 3 /2015

Languages:
In our imaginative writing lessons we will be
learning to write realistic stories where the main
character has a problem or a dilemma to solve. Our
core reading lessons will involve examining the
features of realistic stories. In reading we will be
developing our comprehension skills through nonfiction texts.
Functional writing lessons will be linked to our
Body Works topic and will include lessons on
explanations, leaflets and letters.

Maths: We will be learning about fractions, decimals and percentages , as well


as continuing with our core learning in solving + - x problems.
In money and finance maths, we will be learning how to compare deals and offers
and talk about what represents best value, how to plan and make choices for
spending money within a budget and how to select and use the most appropriate
strategy to solve a variety of money problems.

Sciences: Body Systems


We will be learning to explain the digestive,
breathing and circulatory system and how to
keep them healthy. We will also be learning
about inherited and non-inherited
characteristics.
We will be exploring the fascinating world of
forensic science in a Big Who Done It day.

HWB
The focus for PE for this term will be gymnastics
and team games including hockey. We have a house
basketball tournament in February (9th).
Run For It will continue on Thursdays.
Through the Resilient Kids programme we will be
learning about tolerance and respect.

Social Studies: People in society


We will be discussing issues of the diversity
of cultures, values and customs in our society
and in different countries. P6/7: will be
taking part in the Place 2 B tourism project.

Expressive Art
Music: Mrs Cunningham will be teaching
traditional Scottish music including songs
and poems from Robert Burns. We will be
continuing with our weekly recorder
lessons.
Art : Mrs Poole will be teaching drawing
techniques , design , large painting
,printing, an artist study and we will be
continuing with own-choice projects.

Curriculum Areas

RME:
In RME we will be learning about the
importance of values such as honesty,
respect and compassion. We will be
learning about the rights of the child
and how access to these rights differs
greatly around the world.

Technologies
We will be creating and presenting our
learning using word, powerpoint and movie
maker. We will be learning about safe-internet
use. During practical activities and design
challenges, we will estimate and measure using
appropriate instruments and units.
P7 pupils will begin the Goblin Car project
