Summary of IT
In IT so far we have done four projects. The first project was to design a
website using Weebly. Project two was to create a survey about social media
and create a graph for each of the five questions that were required. The
third project was to record our usage of technology for one full week and
create a graph for each day. The fourth assignment was to make a
PowerPoint or Prezi to present to the class on the history of a chosen
technology; I chose digital music. On our website we have to post all of our
assignments and keep it up to date.

Project #1 Website
An excerpt from my website:

Ever since I was very young I have always loved sports! Until I was 5, I wanted to be a
professional soccer player until I realized I was really bad. Then I wanted to be an
Olympic gymnast, but it took up too much time. Since I was about 9, I have played fast
pitch softball and I realized I had a natural talent for it even in my very first game. My
grandpa, mom and dad played, so I guess I had it in my blood. Since last year, I started
playing volleyball for a club team and we came second in nationals for girls a year
above us. After the regular season was over, I started playing beach volleyball and it
was my new favorite sport by far! My absolute favorite movies of all time are The Lord of
the Rings and The Hobbit. Ever since I was very young I had a passion for nature. My
absolute favorite activity is rock climbing because I have always felt really connected
with nature when I am rock climbing! When I was very young we took the best trips ever
to Tofino, BC and I learned to surf and absolutely loved it! I have also always loved
camping, as it makes me feel connected with nature. While camping I love to go fishing,
ride dirt bikes and quads, go boating and catch crab from our boat. I also have a love of
hiking and every year I do the Holly Burn trail in the winter on Cypress Mountain. I have
also done the Grouse Grind and will be doing it again on spring break this year.
Hopefully, this summer or the next I will also be doing the West Coast Trail Hike with my
dad. This is a 2 week long hike along the coast. My passion for nature has led to a love
of photographing nature. I have always taken lots of, possibly too many, pictures of the
scenery wherever I go. Among many other hobbies, I really enjoy listening to music.
I usually listen to only country music but sometimes other kinds too. My favorite band is
Florida Georgia Line and I got to meet them and watch their concert in 2014 for my 13th
birthday.

Project #4 History of Digital Music

Here are the facts about each section of my presentation:
Radio:
The first radios were made in the early 1930s. The first FM radio was made
in 1933. This radio (left) is from the 1930s, this one is from the 1950s, this
is from the 1970s, this is from the 2000s and this is a newer model from
2010
Cassette:
The cassette was introduced in 1962. It was the first source for digital music.
The first cassette was made by the Phillips Company. The first one was
names the Compact Cassette.
Boombox:
The boombox was also called the ghetto blaster. It was introduced in 1970.
The main feature was the speakers because they were really loud and much
better quality than the cassette players. The boomboxes were very large and
bulky. They were also battery powered so they were semi portable despite
their size.
CD:
The first CD was introduced in 1982. The original cost of a CD player was
$2000. In addition each CD would cost $12-16. The prices dwindled over the
years so much that in 1985 it was possible to buy a CD player and a few
years later you could buy one for $150. CD players are now in most vehicles.
Discman:
The Discman was first introduced in 1984. It was used to play CDs. It
almost completely replaced the Cassette. It had much better sound quality
and you could skip tracks with one button. Portable and easy to use.

Project #4 History of Digital Music (Part 2)

MiniDisc:
The MiniDisc was introduced in 1992. It played a smaller version of CDs. It
was light, pocket sized and easily portable.
MP3 Player:
The MP3 player was introduced in 1998. It was originally called the MP-Man.
The MP3 player or MP-Man allowed high quality digital music. The music had
to be transferred from a computer onto the device. The next year another
company introduced the first hard drive based MP3 player.
Apple iPod:
The Apple iPod was introduced in 2001. The first model had a touch sensitive
control to scroll through music. After the iPod came the smaller devices
which were the iPod Nano, iPod Mini, and iPod Shuffle.
iPhone:
The iPhone was introduced in 2007. It was developed from the iPod. The first
iPhone was released in June 2007. Since then there have been many newer
models of the iPhone with the most recent ones being the iPhone 6 and
iPhone 6 plus. The iPhone combines digital music, camera, and phone uses.
