The following list is intended to help you plan ahead so as to facilitate your completion of
the assignments. Due Dates will be specified on a lesson-by-lesson basis. In addition, from
time to time the teacher may change portions of the assignments, however this will be
kept to a minimum.

Unit length 11 days with Review/Test!

4.1 Angles and Their Measures 3 days!!

Objective: Students will be able to convert between radians and degrees, find arc lengths, convert to
nautical miles, and solve problems involving angular speed.!
Notes: Students should be able to convert any multiple of 30, 45, 60, or 90 without the use of a calculator.
Would it be useful to have students create a unit circle with these angles labeled in both radians and
degrees? There is a picture of one in lesson 4.3, having them create it now before they discover it may be
better.!
!
4.2 Trigonometric Functions of Acute Angles 2 days!
Objective: Students will be able to define the six trigonometric functions using the lengths of the sides of
a right triangle.!
Notes: Students should do problems 26 & 28 without the use of a calculator, instead they should be
using the special right triangles. !

!
4.3 Trigonometry Extended: The Circular Functions 2 days!
Objective: Students will be able to solve problems involving the trigonometric functions of real numbers
and the properties of the sine and cosine as periodic functions.!
Notes: If you had students create a unit circle in Lesson 4.1, it may be helpful for students to refer to it
here. All of lesson 4.3 should be done without the use of a calculator. Does the Unit Circle feel
disconnected from the rest of the unit?!
Alternatively, students may use special right triangles and reference triangles instead of the Unit Circle. !

!
4.7 Inverse Trigonometric Functions 2 days!
Objective: Students will be able to relate the concept of inverse functions to trigonometric functions.!
Notes: The Inverse Trig Worksheet is meant to remind students of the use of the Inverse Functions. They
should already be able to do this, but a review of their usefulness before using the functions in a more
complex way may be helpful. !

4.8 Solving Problems with Trigonometry 1 day!

Objective: Students will be able to apply the concepts of trigonometry to solve real-world problems.!
Notes: This section does not contain any application problems where the student is required to find the
angle using an inverse. Do students need more practice with this process?!

!
Review/Test 3 days!
Notes: Two days for review.
